Daily Inspiration: Meet Nazla Rowan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nazla Rowan.

Hi Nazla, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Boudoir photography has always been a genre that intrigued me. The beauty, the diversity, along with the empowerment that brings for the sensuality of the subject is something I’ve always thought to be beautiful.

I know that I’ve always loved empowering women and helping them see on the outside what their loved ones see on the inside. That road started when I went to cosmetology school 13 years ago. I was blessed that I had many friends that referred their friends and family to my salon, where I did not only all things hair, waxing, and eye lash extensions. I loved having my own salon. When we moved from Morrison, CO, I decided to dissolve my salon and focus on my marriage and within 6 months got pregnant with my first son. And that led me to photography.

My husband insisted on purchasing a really nice Canon camera to take photos of our son. But I was the one taking the photos! Ha! Shortly after is when I started my journey into photography. Learning all the things I could get my hands one. Reaching out to fellow photographer friends. Fast forward two years, did my first model call for a boudoir session. Fell. In. LOVE! Gobbled up all that I could about boudoir while still shooting all the other genres that I still loved until, I found a studio, two mentors and am now living my dream of fully empowering women.

I get to help destroy the box the beauty industry is trying to alter. Give women an outlet to show off their individuality, sensuality, and how badass we are.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is smooth in life, especially when you are starting to learn something new. When I started with my first mentor, going through all of the modules, watching, learning, testing what I was learning, was overwhelming while staying home with my two young boys. All I wanted to do was submerse myself into all of it. Learning patience for myself was the tough part too.

Add on my second mentor, that was just as much work. It taught me soooooo much on the back end of the things I never knew I needed. All was worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Definitely my personality, my energy when we are shooting your boudoir session. Many people have shared with me that they booked me because of who I am. I love it!

Also, how individualized someone’s session is to them and who they are. No session is the same, yes, we do some of the same poses but everyone has something different they bring to the table and I make sure to share/show that to not only them but my VIP Facebook group.

I love to have a themed set every month for my clients to take advantage of if they feel like it, on top of the 7 other sets available to pick from. I have a client closet that my clients can take advantage of, plus shoes!

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
That would be anything at my grandma’s house. Playing tea party with my cousins, make tortillas on the kitchen counter, or her making me breakfast of sunny side eggs and dipping my tortilla and bacon in the yoke only. She has a way of making me feel like I can do or be anything. I try to instill that into my boys with our very one mantra we say every day together.

I am smart.

I am kind.

I am loved.

I am brave.

And I can do ANYTHING!
