Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Neeley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always loved music and have been a musician since I was a kid. I fell in love with the marching arts in middle school and that took over my life for close to two decades. From marching band in 8th grade through high school, to competitive drum corps and teaching High School Drumline which then led to me enlisting in the Marine Corps as a musician in “The Commandant’s Own” United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps from 2015 to 2023.
Around 2016 is when I got into electronic music pretty heavily, constantly going to shows, and festivals, etc… and it was only a matter of time before I wanted to figure out how to do it myself. In 2018, I started producing my own music and started my personal music project “Mfinity”. After that was established, I decided to go to Berklee College of Music Online and get my Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Music Production and Sound Design. During that time is also when I started DJ’ing for a local “Flow Arts Night” in Silver Spring, Maryland where I learned to DJ in front of an audience and had a chance to slowly start integrating my own productions into my sets.
I’ve used music as an outlet my entire life, in good moods or bad moods, it’s always been a way for me to escape for a bit and just let go of anything that was going on in my life. Creating music in my room after work in the Marine Corps was one of my favorite things to do to deal with the conformity of my job. It was a space where I truly felt like I could express myself, find who I was, and understand the emotions I felt.
Creating this music project is what eventually led to me getting out of the military and deciding to pursue being a music producer/DJ. In 2024, I had a bit of trouble finding shows, so I put all of my energy into releasing a song a month for a full year, and started teaching private music production lessons on the side. During that time, it was pretty somber, I felt like I was putting so much energy and thought into this project but wasn’t really seeing the fruits of my labor. My wife and I moved to Colorado at the end of 2024, and that was around the time I started to receive bookings for 2025, I landed some of my largest shows and festivals, like Shambhala Music Festival in BC, Canada. 2025 is when I noticed this project started to gain a lot more traction, focusing on social media and continuing to release music consistently trying to please every algorithm that exists. 2026 has been a fantastic year so far. I played a festival down in Costa Rica called “Envision” which was a big dream of mine, as well as being able to return back to Shambhala Music Festival up in Canada again. I also got to play a couple headline shows across the US and some larger shows with artists like Clozee and Supertask. It’s really been a wild journey getting to where I’m at right now but I wouldn’t change the way it happened or any of the lessons I’ve learned along the way at all.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all, I sort of mentioned some of the struggles in the last section but, being a touring musician is not an easy road. It’s even harder during the process of building a project up to become a “touring musician”. When your livelihood depends on your creativity it can definitely become hard to create at times. Being a musician in this day and age also means you can’t just create music and hope it finds the right people. Social media has been a tool that i’m still learning to understand the ins and outs of to use to its full potential but all growing musicians these days are expected to also be able to “sell” or “promote” their brand on socials. Theres so much music being released every day that we have to find new ways to stand out or reach a new audience. With all of the struggles that come with being a musician, I have to remind myself when things get hard that I’m living the life I dreamed of when I was starting out, and that really puts all of the inconveniences or struggles in perspective.

I’m a music producer/DJ under the name “Mfinity”. I make downtempo melodic bass music.
I feel like i’m most known for my music having a very warm feel to it, along with it being able to pull many different emotions out of the listener.
I’m most proud of how far this project has come since its inception in 2018, thanks to the fans and listeners all across the globe its been super cool seeing this project grow and touch so many people.
In my eyes each song is a journey in itself, but when combining those across an 1-1.5 hour set in a live setting, it creates a much larger story with peaks and valleys all throughout. I spend a ton of time prepping my live sets, carefully selecting each track to all fit into the larger picture of telling a story. Along with prepping my live sets, i also spend a good bit of time creating my own visuals that are unique for each city that I’m playing in, using drone shots and other footage of their cities to create a new and exciting set for each city.
What’s next?
I have my first Denver headline coming up on November 7th at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom. I’m extremely excited for it, it will be my largest show to date here. Outside of that, I’m just continuing to release music consistently, No huge projects or albums at the moment, just some collaborations with friends and a couple small EP’s in the works. I just hit 10,000 followers on Soundcloud and put out a pretty large mix of a bunch of unreleased songs, and the feedback has been amazing. Looking forward to seeing how 2027 shapes up, 2026 has been a pretty big year for this music project and excited to see what the future holds!
