Today we’d like to introduce you to Paris Davis.
Hi Paris, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was a child, I dreamed of being an event planner. I wanted to be a part of the solution and make people happy. As I got older, I decided to stray away from that dream. The thought of not making enough money to provide for my family was quite the fear. I took another route and went into banking and compliance. I have now been in banking going on thirteen years and currently provide banking solutions to a unique and developing market.
Despite building a career in a completely different field; after the death of my brother in 2015, to a drive by shooting, I quickly jumped back into my craft and hobby. Often, I would help family members and friends with events and other creations. It didn’t take very long for others to start asking about my services.
In 2020, prior to the pandemic and after some motivation from my friends, I decided I was going to start an event company. With everything shutting down shortly after, we didn’t have any events for a while. But as soon as the world started to open back up, everyone was ready to plan their next big party. We have been going strong ever since.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Despite the pandemic, the road has been smooth for me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I started my career at nineteen as a teller at a local credit union. I was a teen mom of two and passed on college life to immediately start a career. I soared and worked my way through the financial world. I have held several positions in operations, business development and management. I currently manage a high risk niche market for a financial institution. I have now been in banking and compliance for going on thirteen years.
My greatest emphasis is on community and our future leaders. I volunteer time with many youth organizations in the Denver metro area. Faithful to my mentorship and sisterhood, I am both the head of Human Resources and a member of the Board, an inner-city mentoring organization. Additionally, I organize an annual event that is geared and tailored to empowering young men in our community. I truly believe we must pour into our children and their futures.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I consider myself to be lucky all the way around! Life was challenging at times and could have gone much differently. I had my first child at sixteen and second child the day after my high school graduation. My career was built on faith and the determination I have for success. Overall, hard work and sacrifice have paid off for me.
