Today we’d like to introduce you to Pete Averson.
Hi Pete, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Nearly four decades ago, we traveled from New York to explore Colorado. Some of the best highlights were Rocky Mountain National Park, Garden of the Gods, Denver, and Boulder. In 2006, I moved from New York to be closer to my daughters who were living in Denver and Boulder. After a long career in office spaces, serving as CFOs to various corporations, I retired. Soon after, I found myself exploring Boulder on the comfort of an E-Bike. I loved it. I started giving tours to guests and knew I had to do this full-time. In 2022, I opened Ride Colorado – Boulder. In 2023 I hired multiple guides and within the last 3 years, expanded to serving five different markets in Colorado (Boulder, Denver, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Manitou Springs), 3 in California (Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco), and recently added Hawaii (Haleiwa – Oahu’s North Shore).
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been mostly smooth with a lot of exciting challenges. Each season we identify which e-bikes are the best – most reliant, safest, comfortable, and easiest to repair.
The backend, including the marketing and booking platforms are managed by my adult children, thankfully
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Ride Colorado offers guided E-Bike Tours of some of Colorado’s most breathtaking towns:
Boulder, Denver, Estes Park, Fort Collins, Manitou Springs (And hopefully more to come)
Our mission is to provide uniquely memorable experiences to guests on the comfort of an electric bike. families, corporate retreats, etc. We love to show off Colorado’s beauty and history and hope to catch visitors on their first days while in town. We highlight the natural beauty as well as the history of the town and our favorite local spots (parks, museums, restaurants, and more).
We are most proud of the guides that serve our guests. They are incredible people who proudly share their love for their home towns!
An ebike tour is a wonderful way to get acquainted with a new area and from a locals perspective, covering a lot of territory in a relatively short period of time. Our tours are about 2 hours long and between 7-12 miles depending on the location.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Remember why you are doing it, know your purpose and if it gives you JOY – share it! We do this because we love serving and sharing experiences with guests from around the country and world – we had guests from nearly 20 countries!
