Today we’d like to introduce you to Preston Waller.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ever since I was 5 years old I have loved aviation and all things model airplanes. Every Christmas I would receive model airplanes. Fast forward 15 years, and I now have 300 model airplanes and 4 model airports. My biggest and best airport is Denver International Airport in 1:400 scale! And I now has my private pilots license and am working toward a job at the airlines!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was really hard to put this entire airport together, its hundreds of pieces and not to mention the cost. I estimate the total cost to be near 30,000 dollars for the models, supplies, terminals (which are 3d printed for realism).
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Right now my focus is flight school and running a YouTube channel, which is MileHigh Aviation. That’s where I upload my 4 model airports, and all other things aviation related.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
YouTube is pretty difficult to get traction on, unless you’re purely lucky or have something really cool to show off. Becoming a pilot is even harder, i’ve studied and flown hundreds of hours.
