Daily Inspiration: Meet Rachel & Griffin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel & Griffin.

Hi Rachel, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We both started in our own separate corners of music before we ever knew the other existed. I was playing and writing in Oklahoma, and Griffin was carving out his own path with his bluegrass band in Texas.

We met, fell in love, and a year later were married – and somewhere in the middle of all that, our music began to intertwine. What started as late-night harmonies and shared songs slowly grew into Rachel & Griffin: a full-time folk duo rooted in storytelling, shared life experience, and the kind of chemistry that only comes from building something side by side.

Over the past few years, we’ve grown from local shows to touring nationally, releasing a live album, and cultivating a community that feels more like family. Colorado has become one of our favorite places to return to each year and we can’t wait to be back.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being independent artists means we don’t just play music, we run a small business. On any given day, we’re juggling social media (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube), Patreon, our monthly newsletter, booking tours, designing posters, answering emails, writing songs, recording, and then actually getting in the car to go play the shows.

It’s a million tiny admin jobs wrapped around the creative work people actually see.

One of the biggest challenges has been learning how to protect space for real life in the middle of all that, staying connected to friends and family, and remembering to take a break before burnout sneaks in. Building something from the ground up takes a lot of hours, but we’ve learned that sustainability matters just as much as momentum.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We’re a married folk duo based in the Midwest, playing music full time and touring nationally throughout the year. Our partnership (both onstage and off) is the heartbeat of our sound.

We blend folk storytelling with Americana warmth, writing songs about love, missteps, growth, addiction, forgiveness, and the beautifully awkward process of building a life together. Our writing is honest without being heavy-handed and humorous without losing depth. We focus on harmony-driven, story-forward songs that feel lived-in while still inviting everyone into the room.

We’re best known for our live shows. More than anything, we want them to feel like gatherings of friends. With tight harmonies, quick banter, and the ease that comes from sharing a life together, our performances feel like shared experiences. This year especially, our tours have become celebrations of the community around us: with inside jokes, playful awards, and moments that honor the people who show up. Whether someone is brand new or has been following us for years, we want them to feel included.

We’re most proud of building a full-time life in music one relationship at a time, grounded in the communities growing alongside us.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Hey now, let’s keep this professional, haha.
