Today, we’d like to introduce you to Rob Rushing.
Rob, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After working for the Love Hope Strength Foundation for ten years they decided to stop their US outreach and my wife Tina and I decided to launch our nonprofit in late 2019 to include our original focus of Marrow Donor Registration but also offer other avenues such a mental health awareness and Harm Reduction.
Thus began the journey of Punk Rock Saves Lives, a way to work within our music scene to encourage punks to do good things.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Founded in late 2019, we ran directly into the pandemic.
We struggled to find our footing but were lucky to lay tons of groundwork to come out strong when the world resumed something resembling normality. Since growth has been significant, keeping up can sometimes be challenging.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Coming from a history of the music business and retail, I’ve always wanted the best for the people we try to help and to be an entertainment vehicle. I hold strong to my beliefs but am learning to let go and let others realize their vision.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I always try to ask something every day and learn. Even if you don’t agree at first with someone else’s ideas, I try to think about it for a day and find a meeting ground.
