Daily Inspiration: Meet Sedric Miller

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sedric Miller

Hi Sedric, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started my business while I was still teaching computer science. Impulse Distribution was a dream come true that emerged from years of hoping for the opportunity. For several years, I tirelessly worked various jobs and completed course work to complete my Bachelor’s of Arts. I have always had an affinity for technology and was highly motivated to dive into the world of E-commerce. I began to conduct research on different products and services that I could offer to add value to people’s life experiences. I completed courses that taught me how to effectively conduct social media marketing, that taught me different ways to participate in dropshipping, I learned how to create trademarks, branded products, and more. When I began, Impulse Distribution was created to be a one stop shop for trending products, social media growth, and audio/visual media production. The company had to evolve to create a better customer experience. We stopped all dropshipping and began to focus our attention specifically on Amazon. We acquired our trademark “Impulse Desires”, and began to work with manufacturers to create our own private label products. In 2023, Impulse Distribution participated as a contestant on the entrepreneur boot camp reality TV show “The Blox”. The experience was a catalyst for significant redirection in the business. As of August of 2023, our primary focus became Amazon. We are working to continuously expand our product lines as well as help new sellers and brands effectively take advantage of the Amazon marketplace. Impulse Distribution continues to operate the media production label “Lords of Suave Ent.,” serving as the distributor for music by both the in-house producer Lord So Suave and the artist Gentleman P.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to building Impulse Distribution was all but smooth! There have been several hurdles and roadblocks that attempted to thwart my growth along the way. Operating an ecommerce company requires a significant amount of research and diligence due to the saturation of the market. We were pushed to stop conducting dropshipping because of the lack of control over our products and customer’s experience. This led us to explore the private label model and Amazon sales platform. This transition took some time because a trademark needed to be established, and the processes of Amazon needed to be interpreted and applied. We designed and filed for our trademark “Impulse Desires” 100% in-house. Additionally, learning PPC advertising and retail ready listing structures were necessary and required many months of trial and error to reach efficiency standards. Another challenge that needed to be overcome was being spread to thin in different areas of the industry. Initially, Impulse Distribution conducted ecommerce in three different areas: social media marketing, audio/visual media production, and online retail. We operated under the DBA Impulse Discovery Media Agency for social media marketing, Lords of Suave Ent. for media production, and Impulse Desire for our online retail. After participating on the entrepreneur boot camp reality TV show “The Blox”, I decided to restructure Impulse Distribution based on advice I received and new information I had learned. This was extremely difficult, because it required me to go back to the drawing board to a degree. In the end, Impulse Distribution was restructured to continue to conduct online retail and media production only. Impulse Distribution continues to operate the media production label “Lords of Suave Ent.,” serving as the distributor for music by both the in-house producer Lord So Suave and the artist Gentleman P.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a very versatile person! The statement “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one (-William Shakespeare)” depicts the essence I embody. Over the years I have worked several jobs that helped me vigorously expand my toolbox. Jobs spanning from facility coordination to pawn brokerage. I am primarily known for being specially able to solve problems. This holds especially true for technological matters. Prior to starting my company I worked as a 4th-8th grade Computer Science teacher in Aurora. I have obtained several Amazon seller certifications to help streamline my navigation and understanding the platform. This allows me to provide the most effective service to my customers and people looking to start selling on Amazon. I manage and have created vast amounts of audio media as the in-house Producer and Artist “Lord So Suave Gentleman P”. I have created various visual media assets as well. I have created and maintained several different websites, social media accounts, and SOP’s that have helped me achieve success. What sets me apart from other people is my ability to create options out of seemingly desolate circumstances. I carry myself with a positive mindset that always allows a solution to be possible. This allows me to focus on looking for what I need rather than at what the obstacles are.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was a highly independent and adventurous individual. I spent much of my time dismantling and reassembling my toys, as well as traveling frequently with my parents. I was always exploring museums with my family and absorbing as much knowledge about how things worked that I could. Additionally, I was somewhat of a daredevil! I loved skateboarding, snowboarding, and go-karting most. I also enjoyed spending time swimming at pools and in the ocean whenever possible.
