Daily Inspiration: Meet Tabatha Klocke

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tabatha Klocke. 

Hi Tabatha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Born as a result of the covid 19 shutdown Bootleg Betty was created to continue the true nature of hospitality. Taking care of people, and putting a smile on their faces in an effort to think outside of the box, we began as a cocktail drop-off service for locals in our community. Clients of my bar service wanted to gift my margaritas and bloody marys to friends, to help relieve the stress and connect over zoom in a way we had never connected before. Within a few months “Betty” aka Tabby was spending hours on the road covering hundreds of miles a day delivering to all kinds of people. 

Bootleg Betty was a true mystery with only a phone number and a spoken password would get you on the coveted delivery list. 

As the pandemic continued Tabby realized there was actually a niche market for her creations that were created with fresh-squeezed juices and syrups that were bursting with flavor. The home bartender could create fabulous cocktails in two simple steps, add spirit and shake. 

Now in our second year, we have grown our client list, to not only Boulder but nationwide. We’ve worked with the Washington Post, American Eagle, and several other large corporate groups for virtual happy hours, cocktail lessons, and corporate gifts., 

We also saw tremendous growth this holiday season as an alternative to traditional holiday gifts in our small consumer clients as well. 

Our growth has been extraordinary to experience, and Betty is excited to be in her first (of many) bar programs in Boulder at the new restaurant Local this spring. 

Not only is Betty a great home bar tool, she is also a helping restaurants achieve consistency and easing the woes of training in an already stretched thin workforce. Bootleg Betty’s back bar program features fresh juices, custom cocktails, and of course, her trademarks like the Garden District Bloody, and the Badass Rita (margarita) will be flowing freely on a tap near you! 

I’m over the moon with excitement for what is to come!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Like any new business navigating the supply chain shortages, product sizing, consumer wants and needs, as well as fluctuating prices in a transitioning economy, all make for creative problem solving and out the box thinking. 

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have over 25 years in hospitality as a server, bartender, bar manager, and general manager. My love for the industry runs deep within my veins. When I think about what I love most aside from my family, as silly as it sounds, it’s being with people. Sharing moments over food and drink, especially with strangers can be incredibly enlightening. 

It feels magical to me to connect with individuals in a world where connection is often lost. 

As far as what sets me apart it’s my passion and dedication to the service industry and hospitality experiences… I want people to have an incredible experience when they are in my care. That doesn’t stop when it comes to Bootleg Betty. I connect with people and my community to make these occasions or experiences at home relatable and accessible, and celebratory. 

I source locally, and responsibly. when I can in what can be a very limited marketplace for small businesses. 

How can people work with you, collaborate with you, or support you?
I connect with people virtually, for a majority of Betty’s business, it provides a platform for education and connection, which I feel is lacking in a lot of products. Utilizing a small woman-owned business for corporate gifts or gifts for friends keeps my doors open and my lights on.
