Daily Inspiration: Meet Tami Poortman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tami Poortman.

Hi Tami, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey with FinalEyes Band began in 2013 with my late husband Randy Abbiati. Together, we formed our five-piece band, handpicking each musician to build something we were proud of. Randy was my best friend, and forming this band together will always be a treasured part of our story.

Today, FinalEyes has a packed schedule, performing at corporate shows, outdoor events, country clubs, weddings, and festivals across the nation. Seeing how far we’ve come means so much to me. Every performance carries a piece of the beginning Randy and I shared, and he will always be part of the FinalEyes story.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The hardest part of my journey was losing Randy, my husband, and the person who helped me build FinalEyes. Keeping the band going without him has been my biggest challenge. We started this together, and carrying it forward means so much to me.

What has helped us succeed is having talented musicians who truly click. Talent is essential, but the chemistry between the players is just as important. Repeat bookings have also been huge for us. When clients invite us back, it’s a rewarding sign that we’ve made a lasting impression—and that’s helped FinalEyes grow into a busy five-piece band performing at events in Denver and across the nation

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m most proud of keeping FinalEyes going after losing Randy and seeing the band we built together continue to thrive. Bringing our five-piece band to events across the nation—and having clients book us again—is something I never take for granted.

What sets us apart is the chemistry between our musicians. Randy and I handpicked our players because talent matters, but so does how everyone comes together. That connection helps us create performances people remember. For me, repeat bookings are the greatest compliment: clients trust us with their celebrations and want us back.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to keep growing FinalEyes, reach new audiences, and continue building relationships with the clients who invite us back. I want to preserve the chemistry and talent that make this band special while creating more opportunities to perform across the country. Most of all, I want to keep moving forward with the band Randy and I built together, honoring our beginnings while making new memories.
