Daily Inspiration: Meet UnderLux

Today we’d like to introduce you to UnderLux . 

Hi UnderLux, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been composing and performing music since the 3rd grade. What started out as a pop-punk cover band morphed soon after into many different genres. I found it difficult to maintain my position in bands and groups so I began to produce and sell hip-hop beats. From there I went from singing to rapping. After some small success in the industry, I was introduced to electronic music. This is where I have stayed for the past 6 years as I have found there is much more freedom of expression and much less importance in your appearance, orientation, or upbringings. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Money and time will always be an obstacle for the modern-day artist. Having to fund yourself and all these expensive programs/instruments is extremely time-consuming. Pair that with the need to work to pay for your passion it can be very difficult to convince yourself to trade rest for practice and stay motivated for many years of little growth and lots of sleepless nights. 

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a producer/DJ that specializes in the electro-soul, house, and bass genres. My live sets are my favorite thing to do. If you listen to my songs on the internet, they may sound too different from each other but in a set, I always challenge myself to play as many different EDM genres as possible while still having it sound like one cohesive piece. It’s very fun to be able to mix some dark minimal techno into a slamming bass track and have it still make sense. 

What do you think about luck?
Luck = preparation x opportunity I truly believe if you work very hard and have a successful product. Then go to the places people are buying that product and be prepared to sell it to the right people. Then you will become the luckiest person in the world.
