Daily Inspiration: Meet William A Hintz

Today we’d like to introduce you to William A Hintz.

Hi William, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Jumped in head first. Just took the leap and worked tirelessly promoting myself. Started by remodeling my brother’s bathroom. He jokingly said we should start our own business doing this. I texted him the following week and told him I had gone on legal zoom and payed them 300$ and we now owned our own business. Now the partnership didn’t last the night. But I was determined. I’d meet an old highschool friend who was running his own moving company earlier that month. Successfully I might add. And I couldn’t shake the thought.” Shit if he can do it, I can can definitely do it”.. not moving of course. That’s hard work, and not my passion. But running my own business. So that was it. My mind was set. Printed out 100 business cards. Quit my job of 15 years in witch id rose up the ranks to team lead at and was absolutely burnt out in. And completely and utterly dis satisfied in. And borderlineing sever depression in. And decided it’s over for good. No turning back and from here on out I’m going to do what I enjoy. What truly fills my heart and makes me whole. And that would be helping people and building things using my excellent problem solving skills and abilities. And every day now is different, never the same thing. Always a challenge and couldn’t be happier.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, no. Not smooth. They don’t have an off hours in the day that were needed to pull this off. My wife told me shortly after starting. You need to give up. Go back to your steady paycheck. I told her, that’s not fair. And I won’t go back to being unhappy everyday for a check. She also told me. It’s obvious the only thing Important to you is your stupid business. It’s all you care about and gets all your time and attention. So no, wasn’t easy. Still is quite a bit of work. 24/7 I’m constantly working. But when you enjoy it, it doesn’t seem like work. And we worked things out me and my wife. I showed her. Look this is what we’re doing. I helped this person today. Introduced her to some of my clients and actually involved her with some certain jobs. And when she seen first hand. She never said another word. I run my business as a family business. I may bring my wife out to work with me in some jobs, or one or both of my sons on others. Even my brother will help occasionally. My uncle too. But for the most part I go alone. Have even been a handful The whole family, all showed up. And I love it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a handyman I’m typically hired to do a job/project. That the customer them self cannot perform them selves for one reason or another. Weather it be due to lack of experience, capabilities, lack of time. Or just don’t wanna. In that sense I’m helping that person. And that can be a wonderful feeling. No coming up with a better, faster way to accomplish that goal. Is a challenge. And when you make someone happy. There gonna sing that praise to the world. And the more people that know, the more work you get. And the more work the higher demand= being able to charge more and pick and choose your work.. best feeling, ever.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Follow your passion, don’t give up. Have faith in yourself. Don’t compromise your values. Always keep family first, but it’s gonna take all your time. Your gonna hit hard times, find new ways to accomplish the same goals. It will grow. Be ready, growing pains are real. And left untreated can sink you just the same.
