Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Allegre.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I was in sixth grade, one of my best friend’s mother died. [This is actually the same friend who nominated me. We have been friends since we were four.] Beginning around 2003, when we were in college, she sent out her mother’s sugar cookie recipe at Christmas time to those of us who knew her mom and asked us to make and post the cookies, which I did off and on. They weren’t great looking, but always delicious, and I enjoyed participating in the tribute to Paula (her mom). Shockingly, post-Covid, I started watching the Christmas Cookie Challenge with Ree Drummond, and thought some of the techniques looked do-able. I had enough confidence (well-founded or not) that when my sister had a baby shower in October of 2024, I volunteered to make cookies. The theme was viking with dragons and castles and I said I would bring sugar cookies. I’m pretty positive no one anticipated I would actually decorate and bring themed sugar cookies, but I definitely did. The response was very flattering, but I figured it was family, so I dismissed it. Then, later that year I made cookies for Thanksgiving and received a similar response. I made cookies for a couple more occasions and finally one of my co-workers insisted that I start a side business decorating cookies. She was very insistent… So, I did. I figured why not? Earlier this year (2025), I went on Etsy and got a logo designed. (Super fun) I have an Instagram account and it’s just been a lot of fun. It is definitely still a side business (I’m an attorney), but I’ve had several orders for co-workers and family members this past year. So many cookies for kids birthday parties. 🙂
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s still in the fledgling stages, so yes, thus far it’s been fairly smooth. Thankfully, my husband has been very understanding and accommodating while I essentially take over our kitchen. But, again, it’s a side business, not a full time job, so I have definitely had to turn down some requests just to maintain sanity (and the fun of it).
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Made By Ade (Sugar Cookies)?
I decorate sugar cookies, and as you can imagine, that’s my specialty. I have decorated cookies for many different kids birthdays with themes from puppies to sharks to Star Wars to Zelda. I also decorated some cookies for wedding favors for kids. My cookies are delicious, not overly sweet (as I’ve been told). I really do all I can to make them as perfect as possible and I have very high standards.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There isn’t much anyone can do to support me other than to put in orders. It’s pretty much a one-man show at this point. 🙂
