Exploring Life & Business with Andrew Wysota of Andrew’s Physical Therapy, PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Wysota.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I never thought I was going to get into physical therapy or even healthcare growing up. I always thought I was going to work in the business world (ironically I do own a business now) but I lost my father to heart disease when I was 18 years old. This changed my perspective on life in a lot of different ways. One of them was really thinking about what I wanted to do and what I enjoyed in life. I developed a passion for exercising as this helped me cope with my stress. I then turned this into my major at the University of Maryland, switching to a kinesiology major my Sophomore year. I then turned this into my career. One thing led to another and I ultimately ended up in physical therapy school and graduated in 2019. I then worked my way up. I worked for many different clinics over the years and had a number of great mentors. I decided in 2023 I was ready to open my own practice and I did just that. Since that time I’ve grown from the practice just being myself to being a team of 3 and I’m trying to hire again. It’s been a long but rewarding journey and I couldn’t be happier with where I am now.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road haha. I’m not sure I’ve met another successful entrepreneur that has said their road was smooth or easy. I took a risk when I was 29 and invested my life savings to open my own practice (not many people would have a screw loose to do that haha). But I believed in myself and my vision more than anything. When I first opened I had every issue under the sun. A contractor lied to me about his credentials and delayed my opening by 7 months, broken lights, broken equipment, insurance denials, you name it. I had no formal business education so I was learning everything on the fly. I was broke and living paycheck to paycheck relying on patients coming in the door just to pay my bills. My now wife took me in and helped me survive that first year. Things are stable and predictable now as I’ve grown the business quite a bit but that first year was treading water in an ocean. Not many people have the patience to stay the course during that painful time. If you can survive it then the doors open for you. I used to think that anyone could be an entrepreneur but what I’ve learned these past 3 years is that is not true. There are really only certain people that are meant to be in this position. As the old saying goes, if it was easy then everyone would do it.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of my own physical therapy practice , Andrew’s Physical Therapy located in Arvada, CO. We specialize in outpatient orthopedics and treat any injury or pain from head to toe. I opened this practice with the goal of providing the best high quality care to patients in our field. The physical therapy profession is dominated by big chains that see up to 4 patients in an hour and in turn provide poor care. These are often referred to as “patient mills”. Unfortunately this is the norm in our profession. Healthcare is incredibly difficult work and it’s nearly impossible to not only figure out what is wrong with someone but then also fix them when you are juggling multiple people at the same time. That’s why at my practice I emphasize one on one care where patients are seen in 50 minute blocks without double bookings. This allows the provider to actually take the time and listen to the patient. The provider can think critically about what is going on with the patients and devise ways to heal them appropriately instead of just trying to make it through the day. This model has seen incredible success over the last 3 years and I look forward to seeing just how far I can take it. I am most proud of the patients we have healed the last 3 years. We have genuinely changed some patients lives here and given them their lives back which is a very humbling and powerful feeling. I want our readers to know that you do not have to live in pain! I can’t tell you how many patients we see who have been in pain for months and even years and think that this is just the way it is and pain is normal. It’s not and there are professionals out there who can help fix you.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are very accessible. Anyone call the office at 720-434-930 or email me at andrew@andrewsptdenver.com. I get calls and emails from people all the time who are looking to work with me in some capacity or another (not just patients).
