Today we’d like to introduce you to Ash Wilkenson
Hi Ash , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
In the heart of Denver, four remarkable women—Ash, Bree, Emily, and Lia—found themselves drawn together by a shared passion for transforming the birthing experience. Their journey began at a freestanding birth center, where they each served as dedicated members of the doula and education team. Together, they supported countless families, guiding them through labor and birth, whether in the comforting embrace of the birth center, the serenity of home, or the bustling energy of hospitals across the city.
Each woman brought her own unique strengths to the team, but they were united by a common mission: to advocate for birth equity and to reshape the way birthing is experienced. Over time, their bond deepened, and they realized that their collective vision extended beyond the walls of the birth center. They dreamed of a collective where they could fully honor their commitment to changing birthing outcomes, one family at a time.
With courage and conviction, Ash, Bree, Emily, and Lia decided to step away from the confines of the birth center. They envisioned a new path, one that would allow them to support families in a more holistic and personalized way. Together, they created a collective that embodies the very essence of empowered, experienced, and compassionate care.
In this new chapter, these women bring not only their wealth of experience but also their hearts, their wisdom, and a deep-seated dedication to every family they support. Whether in the birthing room, leading a childbirth class, guiding a yoga session, or offering other forms of support, they are committed to making a profound difference.
As Rosemary Wellness Collective, Ash, Bree, Emily, and Lia are not just supporting births—they are nurturing a movement, one that empowers families and redefines what it means to bring new life into the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wouldn’t say this has been an overly smooth road, but one with challenges that are expected when a previously employed collective is separating from a larger entity to branch out on their own. We did our absolute best to make the transition seamless for clients, and that really required a lot of effort, but it was work we were happy to do. Our clients are honestly the center of our work – and that’s a big reason we decided to separate from the larger business we worked under previously. We knew we wanted to work for our clients only – not for a business first and clients second.
Another big challenge has been rising above the interpersonal drama that can inevitably happen in a separation. We have worked to make sure we really keep our business hats on and we are really proud to say that everyone on the team has grown closer in every way since we started, as well as being really excited to share that our relationships with perinatal providers in the area have really expanded and grown in the last 3-4 months. We get most of our referrals by word of mouth from providers and previous clients and I think that says a lot about our ability to stay above the noise, so to speak.
We’ve been impressed with Rosemary Wellness Collective, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a team based birth and wellness collective serving the Denver metro area. We believe in the power of doula support for your birth, but most of all, as experienced doulas who have collectively seen hundreds of babies born, we know – you are the most powerful person in this story, and it’s our honor to be present to remind you of that throughout your journey. When you work with us, you receive not only the benefits a doula brings, but the perspective of a team of doulas who have seen so many different birth paths – whatever happens in your story, we’ll be alongside you, reminding you that YOU make the best choices for your birth. We bring a holistic approach that nurtures your emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being from prenatal appointments, to birth education, to yoga and coaching sessions. Adjacent to our passion for perinatal support, we are advocates for the improvement of birth outcomes and the parenting experience in America. There’s plenty of work to be done – and we are committed to doing that work, one family at a time.
After many years of working together in other spaces, we are so thrilled to finally work together in the same space, supporting our families. We believe birth, and the way people experience it, can change the world.
We are different from other doula teams because we work TOGETHER – there are times clients have experienced the support of multiple doulas at a time, and others when it’s been all four of us throughout the course of a really long labor. We work hard to ensure you connect with each of us ahead of your birth, so you already know each person that could potentially be at your birth – rather than potentially meeting a stranger on the biggest day of your life. We limit our birth doula support spots so we can ensure that each person will have a rested and full doula.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Denver is an absolutely wonderful place to live with a huge amount of resources and trainings for folks in the birth field. The worst part about Denver – the traffic!
