Exploring Life and Business with Ashleigh Petters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Petters.

Hi Ashleigh, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I first got interested in photography when I was young. I would go with my best friend’s mom when she went to her photography sessions. I think that’s where my love of photography started. Then in high school, I took a film photography class which I absolutely loved. I got to be creative and learn how to shoot photos on the first try. Then I ended up moving to Germany where I started a travel blog and that rekindled my passion. I splurged and bought a good beginner camera for my blog. I decided one day that I wanted to start my own business and I just went for it. I started out doing pet photography which morphed into branding and family. I am now currently doing mainly couples and portraits!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely was not a smooth road. I had to figure out how to navigate starting a business in another country and in a different language, setting up my own website and all the social media aspects. I also had to restart my business when I moved back out to Colorado and that’s been a struggle as well.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am an affordable couples and portrait photographer based in Northern Colorado. I mainly shoot couples and portraits but I also love doing family and pet photography as well. I try to set myself apart from other photographers but offering more of a client experience instead of just a transaction. I am always there for my client and I walk them through the process step by step. I offer great prices for amazing photos!

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband Stefan. Without his constant love and support, my business would never have become what it is today. He has been there since the beginning and I couldn’t be more grateful to have him in my life.
