Exploring Life & Business with Ben Niamthet of Niam Design and Colorado Asian Pacific United

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Niamthet.

Hi Ben, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have been practicing architecture for over 25 years. About a year ago, I started my own practice called Niam Design while actively involved and helped form Colorado Asian Pacific United (CAPU). I always we can create better communities through design.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far so good, My architecture practice and CAPU org are continuing to do well. The only struggle is time. I don’t have enough time to do work. But I’m enjoying doing what I do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Niam Design and Colorado Asian Pacific United?
Niam Design, we are focusing on interior and exterior architecture from corporate interiors to affordable housing.

Colorado Asian Pacific United, we are a non-profit org to educate, celebrate, collaborate on Asians and Pacific Islanders histories, arts and cultures. We are currently focusing on re-envisioning Denver’s historic Chinatown projects such as re-activating alleyways (original Chinatown) and Historic markers to mark the events that took place during an anti-Chinese riot on Oct 31st, 1880, etc.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My practice and organization are only been around for a little over a year. The advice I have is to plan out your goals and stay on track. The road will get rough every now and then, but stay focused to your goals.
