Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbie Post.
Hi Bobbie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started photography in 2020, right after my first son was born. Growing up & also being the 5th child, I don’t have a lot of baby photos & I didn’t want that for my boys. My Grandmother passed in December of 2018 & the only memory I have of her is in photos- that’s when I realized how important photos are. I want to be able to capture moments for clients, something for them to look back on.
Photos hold so much value on any occasion. A family can look back at photos I took a year ago & realized just how much their precious babies grew within that year without realizing that. Photos are able to take you back in time & that is something I truly enjoy. Being a military spouse, photos are so important. I am able to take photos of my family to show them where we had been & where we have traveled over the years-photos of their dad while in service and so much more.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. I am self-taught, so figuring out everything, in the beginning, was rough. I had no idea what I was doing & looking back at my photos, I am so happy I have progressed and am still progressing.
People don’t necessarily agree with the prices of photography, but they don’t realize all the money that goes into equipment plus monthly subscriptions to Lightroom and much more. I have to value my work not value your budget.
My prices are based on my experience and my work. The right clientele will pay the right price because they appreciate you.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a photographer in the Colorado Springs area. I specialize in just about everything, so-lifestyle photography. I am slowly transitioning into a wedding photographer as that is my end goal. I shoot everything from families, military promotions/homecomings, weddings, elopements, birthdays, maternity, engagements, and many more. Every photographer has their own creative style for photos, and their own creative poses and that’s what makes each and every one unique. I carry a warmer tone of photos and any people like that.
I want my readers to know I do this for THEM, I do this to help them remember memories that your brain forgets to hold.
I do this to keep the memory alive. I wholesomely enjoy bringing joy to my clients and their families. I truly love when extended families want photos that I’ve taken. I love when my clients share the photos I’ve taken that are hanging up in their homes. It brings me pure joy.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Always keep a connection with your clients. Remember your clients are just as important & they’re the reason why I truly enjoy what I do.
I have spoken to many returning clients because of how I engage with my, clients and make them feel so comfortable.
A connection is so important, especially for first-time clients who have never taken photos because you are going to make that everlasting impression. Always remember to make your clients feel comfortable and valued.
