Exploring Life & Business with CJ Roberts of Electric Roots Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to CJ Roberts.

Hi CJ, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is CJ Roberts, and I’m based in Fort Collins, Colorado. My background is in Nutrition and Exercise Science, which I studied at the University of Nebraska while competing on the UNL Swim and Dive Team for four years. After college, I spent a decade as a competitive swim coach in Lincoln, Nebraska, and Kansas City, Missouri. Coaching has always been a passion of mine—I love motivating, supporting, and watching people grow and reach their goals.

In 2016, my husband and I moved to Colorado, and I hung up my coaching shoes to focus on raising our two amazing kids, River (7) and Parker (5).

In 2021, my younger brother Jordan Bray received devastating news—he was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Early on, Jordan made the brave decision to pursue only holistic treatments to manage his pain and discomfort. Doctors predicted a 1-5 year life expectance, so we were expecting things to progress quickly.

Approximately 2 years into his disease he discovered Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy through our dear friend and provider, Cindi Rau-Sobotka. After just one session, Jordan experienced instant relief in his muscles and a deep sense of relaxation he hadn’t felt in years. I’ll never forget watching him effortlessly extend his hands—something that had become incredibly difficult before treatment.

Now, approximately 2 years into regular PEMF therapy, Jordan is still living independently, even four years after his diagnosis.

After seeing the incredible benefits PEMF therapy had on my brother, I became curious about what it could do for others. In 2023, I enrolled in Josh Silver’s certification course through Pulsed Energy Technologies. A few months later, I purchased my first machine and launched Electric Roots Therapy.

I quickly realized the amazing potential this technology holds in the world of alternative medicine. In short, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) uses targeted electromagnetic fields to stimulate cellular repair, improve circulation, and promote overall well-being. The science is rooted in the idea that every cell in our body is influenced by electromagnetic energy—and that specific frequencies can enhance how our cells function.

At its core, PEMF helps energize damaged or dying cells and directs them to areas of the body that need support. In other words, we’re using your body’s own systems to repair itself—just faster and more efficiently.

Today, I work with clients experiencing a wide range of symptoms—from minor tendon tears in the shoulder or knee to digestive issues, neuropathy, broken bones, arthritis, and so much more. I’m continually amazed at how quickly this therapy can support the body’s healing process and bring real, lasting relief to those dealing with both acute injuries and long-term chronic pain.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a smooth ride so far. I’ve intentionally started slow to make sure I can balance my most important job—being a mom—while still giving my clients the care and attention they deserve. Being a mom will always be my number one (and favorite) role. So far, I’ve been able to keep up with homeschooling my kids and running my new business without too much struggle. I’m incredibly lucky to have an amazing support system in my husband and our extended family—they’ve been so encouraging every step of the way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Electric Roots Therapy?
Electric Roots Therapy is a woman-owned business specializing in Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF). This innovative treatment uses electromagnetic fields to stimulate cellular repair, improve circulation, and support overall well-being. The foundation of PEMF lies in the understanding that every cell in the body is influenced by electromagnetic energy, and that specific frequencies can enhance cellular function.

PEMF therapy is incredibly versatile. It can support pain management, improve musculoskeletal health, reduce stress and inflammation, promote relaxation, and even speed up recovery from surgery or injury. This non-invasive treatment is also FDA-approved, making it a trusted option for those seeking alternative or complementary healing methods.

At Electric Roots Therapy, we’re proud to offer holistic, effective pain management for both humans and animals. Our mission is to support individuals—and their beloved pets—in improving daily quality of life through the healing power of PEMF Therapy.

What sets us apart is our commitment to meeting you exactly where you are. We create personalized treatment plans and truly partner with you—we’re not just here to help, we’re here to invest in your healing journey.

We believe so strongly in what we do that your first session is completely free. I don’t want a dime unless you feel confident in our ability to bring you relief.

A typical session lasts about 45 minutes and includes a brief evaluation followed by the treatment itself. One of the things I love most about PEMF therapy is that we’re not limited to treating just one area—we can often target multiple areas in a single session. Pain doesn’t always come from where you feel it, which is why we take a whole-body approach. Along with your specific problem areas, we also focus on supporting major organs to encourage overall healing and balance. This therapy is truly designed with the whole body in mind.

The same goes for my animal clients as well.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
I must first give all credit to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Without surrendering to His love and guidance, I truly wouldn’t be where I am today.

I’m also deeply thankful to Cindi Rau-Sabotka and Josh Silver with Pulsed Energy Technologies for their early mentorship and encouragement. To my current mentor, Chelsea Mansour—a longtime PEMF provider and future veterinarian—thank you for being such a thoughtful partner in this journey. Your guidance has been invaluable in helping me grow, especially in expanding my practice to include equine therapy.

Of course, I owe endless gratitude to my amazing family. To my wonderful husband, Casey Roberts, thank you for believing in me and standing by my side through every step of this adventure. To my brother-in-law, Dillon Roberts, thank you for your support. And to my parents, Kathy and Dale Bray, thank you for always being my biggest cheerleaders. To all of my Greeley family, your love and encouragement have meant the world to me—I wish I could name every one of you individually!

Finally, I dedicate all that I am doing to my baby brother, Jordan. You are an inspiration to so many and you are so greatly loved! I love you dearly.
