Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinthiah Brown.

Corinthiah Brown

Hi Corinthiah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am the oldest child raised by a single mother. I was blessed with four children of my own, all boys. By the time I was 21 years old, after several abusive relationships I began abusing substances which led me down the road of criminal activity. I was sentenced to the Colorado Department of Corrections. After my release I decided enough was enough, so I chose to take a better path in life, and I successfully completed parole and the requirements for Denver Human Services to obtain custody of my children. I completed my degree in General Studies at Mansfield Business School. I started co-facilitating groups at Lampkin Group Center with Michelle Lampkin as a mentor who at this time believed in me more than I believed in myself. My name is Corinthiah, I am a returning citizen with 26 years of long-term recovery, I live my life today role-modeling the possibility of rebuilding your life after active addiction trauma and incarceration.
Today I am a recovering crack addict / physical & sexual abuse survivor which is a part of the reason for my passion to help others. I obtained my CAS at the Odyssey Training Center, and clinical supervision hours at It Takes a Village Center. I also received a medical case management certification from the DOHR, an Acu-Detox certification from the Acupuncture Detoxification Association, HIV/HEP certified tester from the Colorado Department of Public Health. CCAR Recovery Coach TOT, training at Peer Coach Academy CO. I am currently attending Ashford University. My major is (Psychology /Sociology) with a concentration in non-profit management.) My goal is to obtain my Masters in Addictions/Mental Health Counseling and become a Licensed Addiction Counselor.
Throughout my life, I developed a passion for helping others. This passion has inspired me to open a safe supportive environment for all Women & Trans women suffering from Addiction, PTSD Domestic Violence & Unresolved Trauma.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Rebuilding my life was challenging and overwhelming there were many barriers to services for example, I had no family support or anything I needed I had to catch the bus to several organizations in one day just to survive with my basic needs. and not many programs to support me mentally, financially, or emotionally

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about the Don’t Look Back Center Inc. ?

What were you like growing up?
Growing up I was an introverted child and I enjoyed reading and spending time with my fish. I was raised by my mother and I have two siblings younger than me. My mother struggled to raise us alone and moved us to Salt Lake City UT, when I was 3 years old she was running from my biological abusive father – It was a hard time as a child experiencing racism
