Hi Cortney, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been inspired by the women that have serviced me over the years because of the control they had in their lives. Coming from an unstable family, I was never sure what my career would end up being since the hand I was dealt was a difficult one. Being able to have the opportunity to be my own boss at a young age and finally have control of my life was enough for me to fight for. I had been working at least 40-hour weeks since the age of 15, meaning I had multiple jobs throughout school and had to give up sports and my teenage years to work in order to support myself. If there was one thing I knew, it was that I was not going to let my circumstances decide my future. Now I am a successful business owner with a clientele of over 200 girls and I get to share my story to inspire others that come from all walks of life. 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not always been smooth, yet the difficulties I have faced have made me into the intelligent young woman that I am today! At the beginning of my lash journey, I was working at a bank full time as well as finishing up my college degree. I would work at the bank from 8 am-5 pm and from 6 pm-sometimes 1 am I would lash clients from my home. Once I was finished with clients I would work on homework and managed to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout the duration of my college career. There were days that I wanted to give up from the pressure and what kept me going was my insanely supportive partner and my own perseverance.

I specialize in eyelash extensions ranging from natural sets to mega volume. This service is known to be luxury and typically unaffordable, so I really wanted my business to stand out for its quality and affordable prices. Building relationships with my guests and being able to give them a couple hours of peace in their day means more to me than any price tag. Clients have become my friends, and now almost two years later these same people have become family. I love breaking stereotypes about lash extensions and sharing a positive experience with people that might have had a negative experience before or perhaps they are scared to try them out. The beauty industry is constantly growing rapidly, and it’s deeply satisfying to empower women with the looks that make them feel best! 

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Being kind has been the most important characteristic to my own success. When I have someone lay in my chair for a service, I never know how their day was and it is up to them to share it with me. I always treat people with kindness from the moment they walk in. Kindness has also taught me that it is okay to make mistakes, and if you treat clients with respect and kindness, they will typically reciprocate that. Having a mutual understanding of how we would like to be treated means that my clients are comfortable sharing their lives with me as well as their honest feedback regarding the service. This is crucial in guaranteeing that someone will return for another service in the future having had a comfortable experience beforehand.
