Exploring Life & Business with Cory Nickerson of 8z Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Nickerson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Cory is absolutely thrilled to serve as an Associate Broker at 8z Real Estate. She brings over 25 years of business experience, including over 7 years of residential real estate sales in the Boulder and Denver area totaling close to $45 million.

She came to Colorado in 2010 via California and then Seattle, where she first earned a BA from UCLA and then an MBA from the University of Washington.

She has worked in various aspects of real estate since about 1999.

Cory has held a Colorado real estate license since February 2016 and is devoted to her craft. When working with clients, she shares her knowledge of marketing, as well as managing her own investment properties to help guide them in their decision-making. Her focus is on representing sellers, buyers, and investors in the Boulder and Denver area including the surrounding towns of Louisville, Superior, Lafayette, Erie, Broomfield, Firestone, Longmont, Westminster, Thornton, and Arvada.

Since her arrival to Louisville, Colorado, Cory has served on several local boards and volunteer committees, including The Louisville History Foundation, Co-President of the Monarch High School PTSO, the Coal Creek Golf Advisory Board, the Monarch High School After Prom Committee, the Louisville Middle School Accountability Committee (SAC), as well as several other volunteers “gigs” around town.

She and her husband, Mike, have a blended family with three kids, all grown up now. Before they became empty nesters, they loved attending their kids’ sports events. The whole family is big into sports of all kinds! Cory loves to Scuba dive when she gets to a coastline and also enjoys XC skiing anywhere there is snow. She loves healthy cooking and her beloved neighborhood book club too!

Cory is a member of the Boulder-Longmont Area REALTOR® Association and holds the Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES®) designation, as well as a “New Home Co-Broker” certificate. Cory loves to work with new home buyers, first-time home sellers, re-location clients, or those who have bought and sold multiple times. As an avid writer, you can find Cory’s real estate advice at the CoLo Home Blog at www.homesinboulderarea.com/blog.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Real estate has its ups and downs, but I am old enough to understand that there are cycles in most businesses. Since graduating from Business School, I have learned to lean into the data but raise my head and ears to really listen to my clients. They are the decision makers but I help guide them with my process.

Two moments have been pivotal in my career: 1) earning an MBA to help me understand the economic engine of any business and 2) moving to 8z Real Estate, an incredibly modern, supportive, and innovative real estate brokerage.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Every zip code in Colorado starts with “8”…thus the name: 8z

8z stands for stronger Colorado communities through homeownership. We don’t think you can sell homes in places you don’t understand or genuinely take part in, which is why we’re big on presence, action, and listening.

8z opened its doors in 2009, a year our country was in the grips of the Great Recession, with one big idea: fix what had been broken in the real estate experience for both consumers and real estate agents. Today, we build upon that mission with a focus on expanding homeownership. If the COVID crisis has highlighted one thing above all, it’s how important home is to every Coloradan.

We build programs to improve access and enrich lives. We do this important work by ensuring our 150 agents have the knowledge, grit, and tools it takes to serve buyers and sellers successfully. We’re always here for them so they can always be there for you.
