Exploring Life & Business with Courtney Lynn of Integrated Behavioral Health

Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Lynn.

Hi Courtney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey to founding Integrated Behavioral Health truly began while I was working at a local children’s hospital. It was an incredibly rewarding experience, offering invaluable exposure to diverse cases and a fast-paced environment. However, I often found myself wishing for the opportunity to build deeper, more sustained relationships with the families I served, to follow their progress long-term, and to really embed myself in the community beyond the hospital walls.

It was actually my partner who first sparked the idea of starting a private practice. He saw my passion for working closely with families and recognized the potential for me to create a practice that could offer more continuous, holistic care. The vision was clear: to build a psychology practice that not only provided excellent therapy and evaluations but also had the flexibility to truly center the entire family and impact the greater community through long-term partnerships and psychoeducational resources.

As our vision for a family-centered practice evolved, it became clear that to truly cover the full range of challenges families experience, we needed a team with diverse expertise. I wanted to create a practice where, no matter what a family was navigating, we had an expert ready to help. That’s why I’ve built a team of psychologists, each bringing a unique specialization to the table.

For example, we have a wonderful psychologist dedicated to perinatal and postpartum mental health, supporting parents through the profound emotional shifts of bringing a new life into the world. My own specialization extends to working directly with parents and supporting children with chronic medical conditions and their families, addressing the unique psychological impacts of health challenges. We also have a therapist who excels in connecting with tweens and teens, navigating the complexities of adolescence, and another who deeply understands and supports individuals on the neurodiversity spectrum. Our team is further strengthened by an expert specializing in OCD and anxiety, helping clients develop crucial coping strategies. Between all of us, we genuinely cover a full spectrum of needs, ensuring comprehensive support for the entire family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Making the leap from a large hospital system to launching my own business was definitely a steep learning curve. My doctoral degree hadn’t prepared me for the intricacies of obtaining an Employer Identification Number (EIN) or the nuances of “balancing the books”! Without formal training in accounting, marketing, or business management, it felt like I was navigating new territory every single day.

Yet, this journey, while challenging, has been incredibly rewarding. I stayed committed through sheer perseverance and an unwavering belief in our model. I actively sought out mentors, learned to adapt and “pivot” when necessary, and, most importantly, consistently reinforced our core values in every decision. The lessons I’ve learned about the power of authenticity, the bedrock of strong relationships, the necessity of flexibility, and the importance of meeting families where they are have been invaluable in shaping Integrated Behavioral Health into the thriving practice it is today.

Furthermore, our commitment to community partnerships extends deeply into each of our specialties. We actively seek collaborations within the perinatal community, with pediatric chronic illness foundations, within school systems, and with neurodiversity advocacy groups. This specialized networking ensures we’re building bridges exactly where families need them most. Our story is one of passion meeting purpose, driven by a desire to nurture healthier, happier families in our community.

We’ve been impressed with Integrated Behavioral Health, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Integrated Behavioral Health, we believe that a thriving individual starts with a strong, supported family. As a psychology private practice, we are deeply committed to empowering every member of the family unit – from children and teens to parents and couples – by placing their unique dynamics and needs at the heart of our work. We’re known for our comprehensive approach, offering both specialized therapy services and in-depth neuropsychological evaluations for a range of concerns, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, learning disorders, and various social-emotional challenges.

What truly distinguishes us in the field are two core tenets of our philosophy:

Firstly, our unique family-centered model. We understand that a child’s well-being is intrinsically linked to the health of their entire family system. It’s not uncommon for us to have a dedicated psychologist working with a child, while another provides parallel support to their parents or even the couple. This collaborative, integrated approach ensures that every voice within the family feels heard, every member feels empowered, and the entire unit moves forward with cohesive support. We’re proud to nurture the whole family system, not just an individual within it.

Secondly, our commitment to community partnerships. We extend our reach beyond traditional therapy sessions by actively collaborating with pediatricians, educators, and other key professionals involved in a child’s care, fostering a truly holistic and coordinated network of support. We’re also passionate about engaging directly with the community through workshops, talks, and support groups offered in various settings. This allows us to “meet families where they are,” providing valuable psychoeducational resources to those who may not be seeking weekly therapy but are eager for practical guidance and connection.

Our greatest pride lies in our brand’s dedication to care that genuinely strengthens family bonds. Integrated Behavioral Health is more than just a therapy practice; we are a devoted partner in your family’s journey toward greater well-being. Our story is one of unwavering passion, collaborative spirit, and a deep commitment to empowering families with the tools they need to navigate challenges and truly thrive.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory isn’t a single moment, but rather a collection of experiences centered around playing travel volleyball. Volleyball is such a unique sport, especially because the teams are typically small, allowing them to become incredibly close-knit. It’s also a fast-paced game, demanding that you truly rely on and trust your teammates, which fosters a powerful bond. This extended far beyond the court, creating countless laughs, late-night talks, and lasting friendships.

Growing up in Virginia, my teams and I traveled extensively – we went up and down the East Coast and even out West for tournaments. One of my very last tournaments, in fact, was right here in Colorado! While I ended up getting horrible altitude sickness and definitely didn’t get to enjoy that particular trip, it’s pretty special to be back living here now. Those years of competitive travel volleyball taught me so much about teamwork, resilience, and connection, shaping many of my fondest childhood memories.
