Today we’d like to introduce you to Danai Reynolds.
Hi Danai, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Todo Bien Flower Truck as a happiness project.
I’d always imagined myself behind the wheel of a vintage white pickup, probably because I grew up driving my grandfather’s F-150, but the idea stayed tucked away until life forced me to make a big change. In the span of a few years, I went through a divorce with two young kids, lost a job in a career I was already questioning, and faced a catastrophic flood that destroyed two-thirds of my home. It was one of those moments where you realize: something’s got to give.
I needed more flexibility as a single mom. I wanted my work (something that takes up most of our waking hours) to feel peaceful, aligned with my values, and deeply fulfilling. And, most of all, I wanted to be happy.
Working on local farms opened my eyes to just how much beauty is grown right here in Colorado and deepened my commitment to supporting farmers, sustainability, and local food systems. That experience led me to pursue a master’s degree in agriculture, and it planted the seed for this business. After selling my repaired, flood-damaged home (goodbye, bad memories), I went hunting for my dream truck, and found her in Montrose, Colorado. I named her Pearl, a vintage 1963 beauty who now serves as a roaming flower market.
Instead of opening a brick-and-mortar shop, Pearl lets me follow the seasons and bring flowers directly to the community, through farmers markets, weddings, pop-ups, private events, and creative collaborations. Every stem is locally grown, chemical-free, and thoughtfully sourced so customers know their bouquet supports not just me, but the farmers who planted, tended, and harvested each flower.
Todo Bien is more than just a flower truck… it’s a mobile floral experience rooted in seasonality, sustainability, and community. It’s my way of bringing beauty to the world, joy to myself, and showing my daughters that you can choose a career and build a business that makes you happy!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like most small businesses, it hasn’t been easy, and sometimes literally not smooth on the road(!), since Pearl, our 1963 vintage GMC flower truck, is a bit of a character herself. Learning how to drive Pearl, start her with a manual choke, and keep her happy has been a whole new adventure!
Running this business as a single mother has also been a unique challenge. Many markets and events happen on weekends or evenings, which means I often have to rely on my community for support, from friends helping with childcare to other small business owners sharing tips and encouragement. That support has been a huge part of growing Todo Bien. (Thank you friends, you know who you are!)
On the business side, one of the hardest things to master has been gauging inventory for farmers markets. Flowers are a highly perishable product, so each market is a gamble; I buy flowers up front, not knowing exactly how many will sell. If it’s too hot, some wilt; if attendance is low, I’m left with inventory that won’t last. That’s why I love paid and private events, where I know the flowers are already accounted for and will go home with someone that day.
Each of these challenges has taught me something about flexibility, creativity, and leaning on my community, and they’ve shaped how I run the business today.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Todo Bien Flower Truck?
Todo Bien Flower Truck is a woman-owned business rooted in integrity, sustainability, and joy. Every dollar spent with us is more likely to flow right back into our local economy, supporting the farmers, makers, and small businesses that keep our community vibrant.
We specialize in creating unforgettable floral experiences for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, photo shoots, and community events. Whether we’re popping up at a farmers market or rolling up to a private party, we’re known for bringing joy and sustainability to everything we do. Our flowers are always locally grown, chemical-free, and sourced from farmers who get up every day to grow beauty from seed.
What sets us apart is that we care deeply, not just about the product, but about the people behind it. Every bouquet is a collaboration between me, the growers, and the seasons. We don’t import flowers, and we don’t compromise on sustainability. This isn’t just a business; it’s about strengthening our economy and honoring the hands that make it possible.
Brand-wise, I’m proud that Todo Bien has become a symbol of joy. Our branding is colorful and bold, a reflection of how I aspire my own life to be and the happiness I hope to spread. I wanted to steer away from muted palettes and precious fonts, and instead embrace something that feels alive. The name “Todo Bien,” meaning “it’s all good” in Spanish, is a phrase I hear often from friends, neighbors, and the Spanish-speaking community many of us work and live alongside in this beautifully diverse nation. I also spend a lot of time in Mexico (I hope to live there one day, it’s such a beautiful country!), where this saying brings me peace, and joy, a reminder that even when things aren’t perfect, we can let go, trust the process, and find beauty in the moment.
For readers who don’t know us yet: we promise our truck and our flowers will make you and your loved ones happy at your next special event. Or come find us at one of our pop-ups, follow along on Instagram @todobienflowertruck to see where we’re headed next. Come build a bouquet, take a photo with Pearl, our vintage 1963 truck, and I promise you’ll leave with a smile. One of my favorite things is seeing the same faces return to our pop-ups again and again, as a business owner, that tells me I’m doing something right, and I’m so grateful for every single person who makes this dream possible.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m a big believer in having a mix of resources that feed both my creativity and my sense of groundedness. For mindfulness, I love the Insight Timer app, it has meditations for every mood or need, and I’m especially drawn to anything guided by Sarah Blondin. Her words always seem to land exactly where I need them.
On the business side, I have to give a huge shoutout to Instagram. It’s been an incredible tool for building Todo Bien Flower Truck. So many people have discovered us there, and those connections have led to wedding bookings, event collaborations, and friendships. Social media has been a lifeline for sharing my work, but I also think it’s important to step away from the screen, take a walk in nature, connect with friends, and remember that in-person connection is irreplaceable.
My favorite book of all time is The Diving Bell and the Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby. It’s hauntingly beautiful and such a powerful reminder that tomorrow is not promised to anyone. It’s about finding the silver lining in everything, knowing that life is what you make it, and that happiness is often a choice.
As for podcasts, I’m inspired by Tara Brach, her teachings blend mindfulness, compassion, and practical wisdom in a way that always leaves me feeling calmer and more centered.
Whether it’s an app, a book, or a walk outside, the resources that help me most are the ones that bring me back to presence, gratitude, and connection, both in life and in my work.
