Today we’d like to introduce you to David Hamilton.

Hi David, I’m so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed with your story and how you got to where you are today.
Well before Cryptic my wife and I had partnered with a few individuals on a window installation company and ended up not being paid at all. While having a hard time being able to afford diapers/wipes for our newborn due to these events I decided to just go for a dream, I obtained a sheet of PVC and built one reptile enclosure, and marketed it all over Facebook. 

That enclosure was sold within a few hours of being completed and invested that money into more sheets of material. Built those and sold those, within a short time word had spread over the Colorado reptile community about a reptile enclosure builder that’s local. Over a few months, orders started coming in for our enclosures and I got overwhelmed in my 2-car garage very quickly! I went from having one sheet and a dream to shortly after ordering it by the pallet! 

We felt unstoppable, everyone loves our product! It was incredible to go from stressing about not being paid in over a month to not worrying about bills at all at the moment. So, we kept investing. Fast forward 5 years and now, we build and ship nationwide and are the only PVC builders in the nation manufacturing zoo exhibits for zoos across the country as needed! 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
All businesses have ups and downs and we have had struggles through the years with the reptile Industry being, so economy-based. We have had our highs and really big lows over time. All we could do was keep going! Reptiles are a luxury, not a necessity and at that upgrading enclosures are below reptiles when the economy is rough. 

We had to sway multiple times in figuring out what enclosures and accessories we could manufacture a cheaper way to continue getting orders out there. We ended up getting our brand of reptile lighting and heating on the market as well as designing and making accessories for not just our enclosures but universal accessories for other reptile enclosures, as well as starting to manufacture rack systems for reptiles. 

As you know, we’re big fans of Cryptic Creations LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a reptile enclosure manufacturing company that builds for every species you can own in the States from harmless snakes and lizards to some of the most venomous and dangerous reptiles obtainable. We use construction-grade PVC sheeting in manufacturing our products for a long-lasting durable reptile enclosure. 

We build for general hobbyists, breeders, and zoos! We are known for some of the largest custom PVC reptile enclosures on the market and building for Zoo entities. No enclosure is too small or large for us to manufacture. We like to believe that anyone who purchases from us once or multiple times is part of the Cryptic family and won’t be treated as a customer or dollar sign. We get to know so many great people in this industry every day, teach so many about different species, and get to share our love and passion for these animals with the nation and worldwide! 

We have people all over the world that want our enclosures! We also breed reptiles as a side hobby and focus on Boa constrictors and large monitors. We have expanded into breeding reptile food for stores all over Colorado as well. Our biggest accomplishments are getting Zoo recognition and being Zoo approved!
