Exploring Life & Business with Harmony Kwiker of Institute for Spiritual Alignment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Harmony Kwiker.

Harmony, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born into a family of healers and began practicing transcendental meditation at the age of six. Even then, I had a deep sense that I was here to be a healer, a teacher, and a guide. That early connection to inner stillness and intuitive knowing shaped the course of my life.

As I grew older, I became curious about how to bridge the progressive healing modalities I was raised with—like energy work and spiritual insight—with the more traditional frameworks of psychology. I pursued my graduate studies in a program grounded in social justice and clinical rigor, but with an openness to holistic, transpersonal perspectives. I knew I wanted to honor the sacred aspect of healing in the therapy room.

For over two decades now, I’ve worked as a psychotherapist, supervisor, and educator. I spent 10 years teaching general psychology before becoming a visiting instructor at Naropa University, where I now teach mindfulness-based transpersonal counseling and serve as the lead Gestalt faculty. I specialize in helping graduate students and practitioners access their intuition and somatic wisdom as vital tools for healing.

Over time, I developed a unique approach to counseling that integrates Gestalt therapy, subtle energy, neuroscience, and spirituality. This integrative framework is now the foundation of the Institute for Spiritual Alignment, which I founded to support therapists, coaches, and healers who are committed to awakening—offering training programs, retreats, and ongoing mentorship.

I’ve also written four books that reflect different aspects of my journey. Reveal is a memoir that vulnerably shares my own healing story; Align offers a self-help guide to living from the true self; The Awakened Therapist is a textbook for clinicians exploring the sacred art of therapy; and Holistic Co-Regulation is a practitioner’s guide to working with chronic nervous system dysregulation through the lens of somatic and spiritual wisdom.

Through all my work—whether teaching, writing, or podcasting—my intention remains the same: to bring more presence, love, and alignment into the healing field and to honor the soul’s wisdom as central to transformation.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the earliest struggles was feeling like I didn’t fully belong in the world of traditional counseling. I was raised with energy work, meditation, and intuitive awareness, yet when I entered the clinical field, those ways of knowing were often dismissed or pathologized. I had to learn how to trust my inner guidance even when it went against conventional wisdom, and that wasn’t always easy.

Personally, I’ve navigated deep trauma and periods of profound disconnection from myself. Reveal, my first book, is the story of reclaiming my own true self after years of living in patterns shaped by conditioning and pain. Writing that book was both healing and terrifying. It required a level of vulnerability that pushed me to my edge.

Professionally, I’ve faced the challenge of carving out a path that didn’t yet exist. There weren’t many models for integrating Gestalt therapy, subtle energy, spirituality, and neuroscience in clinical practice. I had to create my own framework, while also facing skepticism from some in the field. That taught me to stand in my truth and hold the tension between innovation and credibility.

Launching the Institute for Spiritual Alignment also came with the growing pains of entrepreneurship—learning how to build systems, reach the right people, and expand my impact without burning out. And like many therapists, I’ve had to continually do my own inner work to stay clear, grounded, and aligned while holding space for others.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth. But every struggle has deepened my resilience, clarified my purpose, and refined my capacity to serve from an authentic place. The obstacles were initiations, and they’ve become part of the medicine I now offer others.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Institute for Spiritual Alignment?
The Institute for Spiritual Alignment is the heart of my work in the world. It’s where I offer transformational education for therapists, coaches, and healing professionals who are called to integrate deep spiritual wisdom with grounded clinical skill. Our mission is to support practitioners in bridging the divide between traditional psychology and the sacred, so they can bring their full intuitive, embodied, and awakened selves into the work they do with clients.

At the Institute, we specialize in transpersonal Gestalt therapy that honors the whole person—body, mind, energy, and soul. Our offerings include holistic practitioner trainings, continuing education programs, retreats, masterclasses, and mentorship opportunities. Everything is designed to cultivate somatic intelligence, energetic attunement, trauma sensitivity, and spiritual presence in clinical and coaching relationships.

What sets us apart is that we’re not just teaching skills—we’re guiding practitioners through their own awakening process. This isn’t surface-level professional development. It’s deep inner work, paired with precise clinical application. Participants don’t just learn how to hold space for others; they become the kind of space where healing naturally happens.

We’re known for our ability to articulate and teach the subtle—things like energetic resonance, spiritual alignment, and relational attunement—in a way that’s clear, grounded, and trauma-informed. I’ve spent years developing a methodology that’s both intuitive and evidence-informed, and it’s the foundation of everything we offer.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud that people consistently say our work feels like home, a place where they can be fully seen, fully human, and deeply supported as they step into their calling. The Institute has become a global community of awakened practitioners who are transforming the healing field from the inside out.

For readers who are curious: Whether you’re a therapist seeking to deepen your spiritual presence, a coach looking to add more somatic wisdom to your work, or a healer wanting to grow your skillset with integrity. We offer a path of learning that’s not just informative, but transformational.

We also have a podcast: The Awakened Therapist, streaming everywhere. You can learn more about our current offerings, events, and mentorship opportunities at awakenedtherapist.com. This work is truly a sacred invitation to come into deeper alignment with yourself so you can help others do the same.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Even though I’ve always been connected to intuition and had a clear sense of purpose, I spent years hiding the more mystical or spiritually attuned parts of myself in order to “fit” into the clinical world. There was a quiet fear that if I showed up fully as myself, I’d be rejected or dismissed.

So while people may now associate my brand with clarity, alignment, and authenticity, the truth is that I had to work through a lot of self-doubt, shame, and fear to get here. Reveal, my first book, was actually written as an act of liberation, of stepping out of hiding and into full embodiment. It wasn’t just a book; it was a declaration that I was done playing small.

Another surprising thing: I still meditate every single day, just like I did as a child. That inner stillness has been my anchor through every evolution—personally and professionally. It’s not something I perform or brand—it’s just who I am.

So what may surprise people is that the confidence and clarity they now see in my work was earned through years of deep inner healing. And that’s why I’m so passionate about helping others walk their authentic path—from self-protection to soul expression.
