Hi Izzy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Hi, my name is Izallia. A little bit about me is I grew up in the system since I was 12 years old I ended up going to prison when I was 18 and I got out when I was 22. Since getting out I’ve been very passionate about moving forward and getting my life together. I wanna be something bigger. I wanna be something better, and I wanna do something more with my life that makes a difference. I want to show people that you do not have to be a product of your circumstances, but you can rewrite your own story the way you want. I have always loved and been passionate about Beauty and HAIR. My second YouTube video I ever made I had tried on a wig for the first time and I fell in love. I continued to push myself to watch tutorials and teach myself how to do an install how to braid down my hair And how to be more creative and artistic with my own hands. I then put myself through cosmetology school & graduated and started my first little business that I hope to one day grow and become a life changing endeavor of mine. As I sit here and still dream, I set goals for myself that I hope I can maintain and with the help of my community and those around me I hope and pray that I can get to where I wanna be. I hope this message reaches a wide range people to know that you too can make it, and you too can become and do something great.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve had many struggles and set backs in the few years I’ve been out. Discriminations at school and work environments. Family troubles. And mental health suicidal thoughts. Life problems will never subside yet take them as learning experiences.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Izzy Slays LLC?
I do many things in my business. Not only am is service provider I am a content creator, editor, and producer of my own products.

I currently am most know for my flawless wig installs (frontals or closures) Some may call me a specialist. On top of that I also provide tape ins, sew ins, braids, and men haircuts.

I also have a website that people can shop on and my available inventory I have for sale is wigs, edge brushes, bonnets, & strip lashes.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that there’s Diversity and opportunity.

I don’t like that I’ve been here my whole life. lol
