Exploring Life & Business with Jacinta Yeung Olson of Peek to Peak Vision & Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacinta Yeung Olson.

Hi Jacinta, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband, Josh, and I graduated optometry school together and started our respective careers. Mine led me to working in a practice that specialized in helping patients recover from Traumatic Brain Injury. After a few years in functional vision, I joined Josh in a primary care practice in Boulder.

With my functional vision background, I realized how many patients had functional vision issues that were just living with their symptoms and challenges rather than thriving. Together with Josh, we enjoyed educating patients to empower them in their journey to improve their vision and ocular health. Starting to feel constrained by vision care plans, insurances and corporate, as well as recognizing the art and unique style of independent frame companies, we envisioned our new clinic and boutique optical.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think starting a small business is ever a smooth road but the journey is what makes it all worth it!

As first time business owners and remodeling a 120 year old building, the whole construction process was a learning curve. While we know, especially with Josh’s knowledge in construction, that we were taking on a huge project, trying to keep the timeline moving and staying on budget was frustrating at times.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are an optometry practice with a functional focus. Vision goes beyond 20/20 and just seeing clearly. We respect that everyone has different values and needs and we enjoy learning about your livelihood: your work demands but also your passions. Our goal is to protect your vision and provide you options so you can reach peak performance. We offer services related to vision therapy and rehabilitation, pediatric care, myopia management, and dry eye management.

We are committed to educating and empowering our patients with knowledge so they can confidently choose the best treatment options that fit their needs. We value diversity, independence and self-expression: we carefully chose independent frame lines reflect the various styles our clients may have. Finally, we desire community- we want to foster long term relationships, not only with our patients and customers, but also with local businesses and residents by offering collaborative workshops and group meetings.

Any big plans?
We’re excited to host our grand opening coming up in November to share more about our practice and what we have to offer. We’re also excited to host workshops to discuss topics related to eye health and vision, hopefully in collaboration with other local businesses and providers.
