Exploring Life & Business with Kelly Weaver of Kelly Weaver Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Weaver.

Kelly, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started photography after being totally intrigued with my beautifully creative Photography teacher in High School. I was raised to value math and science and really never ventured over to my “right brain side” until that class. Literally looking through a different lens, changed my life and I love the quiet, calmness of the red light dark room.

After 23 years owning my photography business, I have shifted to having “just one person” in front of my camera. I’ve become more introverted and love the 1-1 connection I get with just one person. That is why I don’t do families, large weddings or events. Sometimes, though, I can get talked into doing a smaller intimate wedding with folks “my age” (60’s), as they also like having a vendor in their life phase.

My photography studio downtown Littleton, Colorado services companies in Greenwood Village – DTC as well as Highlands Ranch, Englewood, Lone Tree, Littleton and Centennial. There are few photographers who have a commercial space, so my studio is a huge advantage, especially when a company has a new hire (we have a mobile setup and a duplicate setup in our photography studio).

My concentration is mainly on headshots for COMPANIES (that’s where I can monetize most). I go on-site or the employees can come to my Littleton studio. Again, having a STUDIO (commercial space) is a huge asset.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always say I’m 80% “business owner” and only 20% photographer. I had a lot to learn about how to run a business, and how to MARKET and target. It’s easy to get sucked into social media, but I’ve never found that to be the way to go to market my business. Rather, it’s continuously contacting my clients that already know, like and trust me. I offer a great referral program and gotta say, GOOGLE has been amazing for my business. Not google ads, but consistent blogging and SEO. Now my SEO targets A.I.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kelly Weaver Photography?
I specialize in just having ONE person in front of my lens, which suits my introverted personality. I specialize in headshots for business owners and employees of companies. I can easily do 25+ employees as I am only dealing with one person at a time. My secret weapon? a GREAT boom box and playlist! I now am primarily targeting Greenwood Village DTC, Colorado Companies for headshots. My Littleton studio offers a great option if the company needs to spread out amongst multiple dates or if they have new hires.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I sometimes sub-contract other photographers to help with large volume headshots and family sessions. I’m always looking to collaborate with women owned businesses who target clients (women over 50). Happy to connect through my website: www.kellyweaverphotography.com
