Exploring Life & Business with Keysha Griffin of ZenVita Med Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keysha Griffin.

Hi Keysha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into aesthetics was built on a strong foundation in healthcare and a deep passion for helping others feel their best, inside and out.

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Southern California in 2002. I completed my Master of Science in Nursing at Regis University in 2015, earning a board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner. I began my nursing career at the VA, starting in critical care, where I developed a deep appreciation for precision, patient advocacy, and the importance of holistic wellness.

While I loved serving the veteran community, I found myself increasingly drawn to aesthetics — the blend of science, artistry, and empowerment. I pursued extensive training in injectables, laser treatments, regenerative therapies, and medical weight management. That passion eventually led to the creation of ZenVita Med Spa.

The name ZenVita reflects the heart of my practice. Zen represents calm and balance, and Vita, the Latin word for life, reflects vitality and renewal. I wanted to create a peaceful, welcoming space where people could reconnect with themselves and feel truly confident in their skin.

Today, ZenVita offers personalized, results-driven treatments designed to support both beauty and well-being. Whether it’s skin rejuvenation or weight loss, my goal is to help every client feel empowered, radiant, and cared for.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Like many entrepreneurs, the road to building ZenVita Med Spa has had its fair share of challenges. Transitioning from a stable career in the VA to starting my own business was both exciting and terrifying. I had to learn how to wear all the hats—provider, marketer, manager, and everything in between—while still prioritizing excellent care for my clients.

Financially, it was a leap of faith. Investing in advanced equipment, training, and a physical space required careful planning and a lot of trust in my vision. There were moments of doubt, especially when I was working full-time at the VA and trying to grow ZenVita in my off-hours. Balancing both was exhausting, but I knew the long-term reward would be worth it.

There’s also the emotional side—feeling like you have to prove yourself in a competitive industry, navigating self-doubt, and staying focused on your unique path rather than comparing yourself to others.

But every challenge has made me more resilient. I’ve learned to trust my instincts, lean into my strengths, and stay anchored in my purpose. I’m proud of how far ZenVita has come, and I’m even more excited about where it’s headed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
ZenVita Med Spa is a boutique medical spa where beauty, wellness, and science come together to help clients look and feel their absolute best. I specialize in non-surgical skin rejuvenation, regenerative aesthetics, and medical weight management, all with a focus on delivering natural, noticeable results that honor each person’s unique features.

Some of our most popular treatments include radiofrequency microneedling with Morpheus8 burst, advanced laser skin resurfacing with the Ultra LaseMD, the Plasma IQ pen for targeted skin tightening, and hair restoration with KeraLase. I also offer customized weight loss programs that utilize GLP-1 medications, such as semaglutide and tirzepatide, which have been life-changing for many of my clients.

But ZenVita goes beyond aesthetics. I also offer wellness products and support to help clients feel better from the inside out, including NAD+ injections, Nutrafol for hair health, and Purium’s clean, plant-based nutritional supplements. These offerings are part of my belief that true beauty starts with overall vitality.

What sets ZenVita apart is the level of personalization and care each client receives. When you come here, you’re not just getting a treatment, you’re being cared for by someone who listens, who understands your goals, and who has the clinical experience to guide you safely to results. My clients aren’t rushed through appointments. They’re seen, supported, and educated every step of the way.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust I’ve built. ZenVita isn’t just about outer transformation—it’s about creating a peaceful, empowering space where people feel cared for and confident. The name itself reflects that philosophy. “Zen” stands for calm and balance. “Vita,” the Latin word for life, reflects energy and renewal. Together, ZenVita is about restoring harmony, inside and out.

Whether someone is struggling with acne scars, melasma, signs of aging, or weight gain, I want them to know there’s a safe, welcoming space for them at ZenVita. Everything I offer is designed to support long-term wellness and confidence.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I didn’t have a mentor when I started in aesthetics, and I can honestly say—I wish I had. Having someone to guide you through the early challenges, offer insight, and help you avoid common missteps would have made a big difference. Starting and growing a business in this industry can be overwhelming, and having a mentor isn’t just helpful—it’s powerful.

That said, I’ve learned the importance of building your support network along the way. Networking has been essential to my growth, both professionally and personally. Whether it’s attending conferences, hands-on trainings, or local industry events, I make it a point to stay plugged in. These spaces are not only great for education but also for meeting people who are walking the same path.

Reaching out to local reps has also been a game-changer. They often have a pulse on who’s doing what in your area and can help connect you with other providers. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, introduce yourself, or express your interest in learning from others. Most people in this field are incredibly generous with their knowledge once you make the effort to connect.

What’s worked well for me is being open, consistent, and curious. I’ve made great connections by simply showing up, being authentic, and being willing to share what I know, too. Collaboration over competition is something I genuinely believe in. We rise together.

If you’re just getting started, my advice would be to seek out people whose work you admire, even if you don’t know them personally. Engage with their content, attend their events, or send a thoughtful message. You never know what kind of mentorship or partnership can grow from just one conversation
