Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTerrell Bradford.
Hi LaTerrell, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always been a very curious person and intuitive. So, when the opportunity presented itself for me to take a yoga class, I jumped on it. The thought of doing yoga resonated with my spirit. I loved it from my very first class, the universe began presenting many more opportunities for me to participate in yoga. In 2015, I attended an informational session about a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training for POC. I said YES!!! I once heard Oprah say follow the thread and it will lead you to where your destiny is. That is exactly what happened to me, I followed what resonated with my spirit, being a yoga instructor was not part of my life plan, yet here I am. In 2016, I was presented with a second opportunity to take a 200-hour YTT, I said YES!! It’s been a wonderful inspirational journey!!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not smooth at all, I think that’s just a part of life. I had emergency back surgery in 2009, a very painful unexpected experience. After the surgery, the healing process was brutal, I was determined to get better, and I had a tremendous fear of pharmaceutical pain drugs. I had to find a holistic way to re-leave the pain. Yoga and palates was/is the answer. That and removing toxic people, environments, etc.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Transitioning Into Wholeness?
Transitioning Into Wholeness was birthed from my own transition from a toxic lifestyle to a healthy lifestyle. I teach yoga classes at a local recreation center, and I am in the process of Pitching my 3–5-year business plan to investors. The plan is to build a home in Ghana West Africa, where I will offer healing tours. As a Black American, I often felt disconnected from my roots, you see most Black Americans and many in the African Diaspora are not educated about anything positive about Africa. We are made to feel ashamed of Africa and ashamed of our history in the USA, we’re taught that our history began in chains and that is not the truth. The Sacred Space Healing Temple in Ghana will offer a space to transition into wholeness using many modalities, yoga being one of them.
I am proud that many, many people resonate and are excited about the coming attraction, I am also proud that Transitioning Into Wholeness has facilitated healing circles, bringing the community together in a safe space and in many cases having difficult conversations.
I think it is imperative for people to know that we can heal from trauma and live healthy, productive lives that we can not only be proud of but we can also experience tremendous joy and euphoria. And the best part of all is that we get to model joy and we get to pay it forward,
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
The beauty of success is that we get to decide for ourselves what success looks like and feels like. Success to me is FREEDOM!!! The freedom to explore life, to get to know thyself as we grow and change. The ability to evolve and ascend into our best selves.
