Exploring Life & Business with Laura Savino of Elevated Pursuit Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Savino

Hi Laura, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My fitness and nutrition journey started in college when I played rugby for Clemson. I was trying to optimize my performance on the team, and being short and not very fast didn’t give me many advantages. On top of that, my freshman year, I developed a severe gluten intolerance that left my digestive system in shambles. This sparked my interest in how food and movement can be used to heal and optimize wellness.

I spent the next decade diving into as much knowledge as possible about fitness and nutrition for myself while pursuing a career in packaging engineering. Like most people, when the pandemic hit, I had a crossroads. Either find a new job in the engineering space or take the leap and turn my side hobby into a full-time job,
I jumped off the ledge and merged the engineering side with the nutrition and fitness side to help people achieve their health and fitness goals. At Elevated Pursuit Nutrition, we take a scientific approach to discover what works best for the client and experiment to devise a plan that perfectly suits the client’s lifestyle vs delivering cookie-cutter programs in a one-size-fits-all approach.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not.

We’ve absolutely had some struggles along the way. If it weren’t for my husband, Matt, having a stable income and healthcare benefits, I’m not sure we would have made it out of the first year of entrepreneurship. The ups and downs of just starting out and hoping that future clients will buy into an untested fitness program in a saturated market is hard enough, especially in an industry where people are marketing quick (and often fake) results while we’re trying to help people with the long game of sustainability.

We don’t post six or 12-week transformations. We share year-long journeys of our clients actually sustaining realistic results and completely turning their lives around.

I’d love to say we’re completely out of the woods, but that would be ambitious. We’re turning the tide in the health space, and the more we can help people realize that the long-term results that come from us are the ones they really want, the better our success will be.

We’ve been impressed with Elevated Pursuit Nutrition, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I cofounded Elevated Pursuit Nutrition in 2023, and we utilize combine data and holistic practices to help people achieve optimal performance, improve their physiques (build muscle and lose body fat), or improve health outcomes depending on their immediate goals.

No matter what goal we’re helping the client achieve we’re know for having a clear and systematic process to get there. There’s no mystery or gatekeeping between us and the client, we lay out the exact process for them so that they can learn to DIY their nutrition themselves after graduating.

Our cornerstone service is our group coaching cohorts, these are designed for 4-9 people to go through together. We teach in the group setting how to manage your nutrition on your own with the support f a coach and an accountability group of others who are all going through the same process.

Many of these groups that have graduated continue to remain friends and in touch with us, which is the most heartwarming.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Yes! When I first transitioned out of corporate, I spent time working with Paragon Training Methods (an online fitness programming company), learning the ropes of the fitness industry. Their founders, Bryan Boorstein (a Boulder local) and Laurie Christine King allowed me significant freedom to learn as much as I wanted.

Eventually, when EPN grew big enough, I decided to branch off on my own, but the connections built at Paragon are a big reason for the initial success of EPN.
