Exploring Life & Business with Lori MacGregor Cornetta of Stealth Sales

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lori MacGregor Cornetta.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
From the time I was a young girl, I watched my dad work and become a successful industrial manufacturer’s sales representative. Sales seemed like a wonderful career because a person’s income was tied directly to their performance. Knowing I would work hard, it seemed like a perfect fit.

After graduating from CU Boulder, I successfully sold radio advertising in Charlotte, NC, for a few years, eventually moving back to Denver and landing an account executive role at the top television station in the local market. Soon I was named the Account Executive of the Year, and decided I was ready to explore a new challenge.

That’s when I switched gears and went to work in the medical device industry, selling for one of the top orthopedic companies in the world. For the next seven years I surpassed my annual quota and lead my region in sales, earning a six-figure income right out of the gate.

After that, I approached corporate leadership and asked them to create a unique position for me to coach new sales reps. My goal was to speed up new reps learning curve while helping them build business and credibility in their territories. The program was a huge success, and the sales reps I coached were 30% more profitable than their peers in the same division.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
During my professional sales career, I was often the underdog. Many times, male counterparts told me I wouldn’t be successful. I’m sure they thought a woman couldn’t possibly have the skills and determination required to achieve greatness in “their” industry. Usually, I ignored their negativity, but occasionally I used it as fuel for my fire. I never lost sight of who I was and what my goals were. With clarity and passion, I cleared the path to my success despite what other people thought, said, or did to hold me back.

Therefore, I’ve never been a stranger to obstacles or challenges. Learning how to successfully navigate through tricky times made me stronger. Engaging challenges with passion, staying growth-focused, and never losing my relentless spirit, transformed obstacles into opportunities and helped me become a better person and achieve greater success.
