Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Smithey.

Hi Melissa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Melissa aka @fe_mel_barber. Here’s the start… So it was 2015, and I was at a standstill till in my mid 20’s. Trying to find my direction, I gave my brother-in-law and fam friends a haircut in my kitchen. Everyone was like you’re a natural and on to something!’’ So I used social media and google to see what it’s like to do hair.

I fell in love and later realized I had a calling for this since I was a preteen. I was at a loss of direction in my life but quite wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. That following week I made an appointment at my local barber college for a tour. I signed up and started immediately. My life has forever changed. Every day I wake up loving what I do and never for a second, wish I chose differently.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road always but a learning lesson for sure. Learning new techniques to add to my skill set, business moves, financial ideas, taxes, and setting healthy boundaries with clients on scheduling appointments, services, etc… has been the biggest lesson to learn.

I’m a Barber, that owns my business working thru another established business. Together we work and make great things happen. Each client leaves looking awesome and feeling great. I specialize in all old schooling barbering and offer anything latest and trending.

I’m known for my consistency, timing, straight razor work, and phenomenal haircuts. Proud to be a Barber in a fading-out industry that is taking off again. We are the true artist of decades. Have a seat in my chair, I’d love to treat you to the old schooling barbering with a trendy twist.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
Baseball/Softball years, Road trips, and Fishing are my favorite childhood memories which always included my amazing family.
