Exploring Life & Business with Melodie Gonzalez of Mountain Stone Therapeutic Medical Massage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melodie Gonzalez.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I Started my journey toward massage when I was Stationed in Japan. They showed me the history of massage and its purpose as the very first wellness modality from back in the beginning. I learned about acupressure, pressure points and the effectiveness to effect change for all types of issues like headaches, anxiety, hypertension to name a few. As I started using Reflexology everywhere I went, it became a challenge to see if Reflexology could kill a headache before pain meds could. From there as I did different jobs, had children and got more exposure to Massage and the different modalities, I integrated more and more into the jobs and activities I got involved in. It became something that could change peoples quality of life. My husband and friends told me that I should pursue Massage as a career but I didn’t want to do spa or feel good massage, I wanted to make a difference with it. I started taking classes and getting involved with training sessions, education classes, and seminars to further my knowledge about how the body works and where the common distressers hindered functional living. When we moved to Colorado my license and hours of courses didn’t transfer so I started my AA degree for Massage. A dear friend helped me get my start as an entrapreneur in my own business and it has been sailing since 2013

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Getting to where I am now has been an adventure of lots of obstacles and hardships that has resulted in an amazing education. I had to come to terms with areas of business that I’m not real good at. Learning how to ask for help and understand that my greatest part is working with clients. The taxes, accounting, marketing and computer side has been difficult and very time consuming but I have learned a lot. Now I can get someone else to do the difficult things while I focus on my work. I have been able to get involved with business councelors, training programs for my business in particular, networking groups and organizations that have challenged me in all areas of life and more specifically in business to answer my Why questions.

We’ve been impressed with Mountain Stone Therapeutic Medical Massage, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started my business in order to make a difference. I don’t want to be another spa and relaxation place. The work I do is to get people back on their feet without pain, recover quickly after surgery or any type of injury that causes weakness, inability to move or enjoy everyday activities. I work to get results that don’t need surgery or will cancel the surgeries. I utilize modalities such as Neuromuscular Anterior and posterior, Reflexology, Rossiter, NRT(Neural Reset Therapy), Resipricol inhabition, Deep tissue to name a few. I’m very proud that my clients know that I will do what ever studying and research to find options that can get them results to improve and “Restore Quality of Living”. My client get to experience results quicker that last longer than normal and realize there are more options that will give them great results.
I started working with BTI( Breast Thermography Internation) in 2018. Thermography is a scanning tool that is a great adjunctive tool to couple with other scanning tools to help in diagnosing issues in the body. Medical thermography has become an essential tool for preventive health monitoring, as it enables early detection of physiological irregularities before symptoms develop. This makes it particularly useful for monitoring breast health, neuromuscular function, vascular conditions, and chronic pain syndromes. Additionally, since it is completely safe, painless, and free from radiation exposure, individuals can undergo frequent screenings without any risk, making it an ideal solution for long-term health monitoring and proactive wellness care.
People that are looking at taking control of their health journey have more resources available to them with more answers. I want to bring that awareness to the masses as well as encourage body workers to take a deeper look at what they can offer to their clients that make a huge difference in the lives and greatly improve the quality of their lives.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
One mode of “health care” isn’t for everyone and I have found there are many more successful options to the pursuit of personal health. People Do much better in all areas of life when they can feel good and have hope that the issues they are experiencing ar temporary and not a permanent conditions. Given the oppertunity to live feeling good and energized helps their home life and work life and their future.
