Hi Michelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When Vaughn and I decided to build the event center in 2019, I wanted to share the open space of our hay fields with couples who may have never experienced life in the country. There’s a peaceful feeling that comes from the smell of freshly cut hay, wide-open views, and the mountain range in the distance. Being outside the city gives guests a little extra room to breathe, slow down, and truly take in the moment. What makes our business truly unique is the personal attention each couple receives. I work closely with every couple to ensure their vision comes to life, offering guidance and support throughout the planning process. We also provide a thoughtfully curated supply room filled with décor options to help fill in the gaps of their dream day—saving both time and money. At Dreams and Dragonflies, my goal is simple: to make your dream wedding a reality.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When we first opened in 2020 it was definitely a struggle. However it gave us time to ease into the business and work out the kinks. We stay very busy with events of all kinds. We host weddings, graduation parties, baby and bridal showers as well as birthdays and Celebration of Life events.
The struggle has been creating a perfect work/ life balance.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Dreams and Dragonflies event center?
Our business is a wedding venue.. We are located in a semi rural part of Johnstown colorado. We offer many other events as well. I am proud that we are supported by our wonderful community. We both grew up in the Johnstown area. Vaughn grew up on the farm that we are located on. We built this event center because our community was in need of a space like ours.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have joined a networking group called Polkadot Powerhouse. This is an organization full of like minded women. We support each other, building confidence and growing our business.es.
I also have reached out to other wedding venues and spoke with owners. I look at it a we compliment each other, not that we are competition. There are enough weddings and events for everyone to be successful. We need each other for support and balance.

• Our weddings are $5000 May through September
• Our weddings are $ 4000 October through April
• Bridal showers and shorter events are priced at $250 per hour. t
