Exploring Life and Business with Monserrat Macias of Consulta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monserrat Macias.

Hi Monserrat, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Being a bilingual banker, I was faced with the reality of the lack of resources for the Hispanic Community. Being such a tight-knit community, it’s all about building trust. Once my clients knew I was bilingual, I became their go-to for anything. I had clients coming with mail or calls that they needed help with. This sparked my problem-solving abilities. I grew up translating for my parents and family friends from a young age. Why couldn’t I make this an actual business? I toyed with the idea a lot. It wasn’t until I was fired from my job for an honest mistake that I decided to finally run with my idea. For years, that is how Consulta started. We pride ourselves in being a Resource for the Hispanic Community in all aspects, whether it’s part of our services or not, we will get them connected with the right people in their language!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not always been smooth. I started my company in February of 2020. I didn’t have a place of business at this point, I was just seeing clients at coffee shops or their homes. A month later, I was faced with the shutdown. Which limited being able to see my clients. This was the time for me to grow as an entrepreneur and bring brand awareness. I got a part-time job waiting tables at night in order to invest into an office space. During this time, I was able to save up and opened my office in June of 2020.

We’ve been impressed with Consulta, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Consulta focuses on being a resource for the Hispanic Community. We specialize in helping people renew their licenses, Spanish & English Translations & Notary Services. We help other clients with registering their businesses, obtaining their EIN, Logo, & Website Design Services. We were recently selected as the Top 2022 Translator in “Best of Springs”, we are super excited and thankful for that!

I want readers to know that we do help everyone, not just members of the Hispanic Community. With our non-Spanish Speaking Clients, we do help a lot of new business owners get their thoughts and ideas together and come up with business names. We love to solve problems and help people bring their ideas to life. Our passion is helping all of the community in any way we can! I also love to network and uplift women, I do a lot of networking events in order to create meaningful relationships from leaders in my community.

What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was a very talkative, energetic child. I am a natural-born leader and have always shown my leadership. I was born in Mexico, and I remember that I was picked by my Kindergarten to give a “Thank You” Speech to the Governor of our state for building new classrooms at our school. They chose me because of my ability to talk and good grades. I’ve always been a very positive spirit, that helps when I can. I have always loved office work, As I child, instead of playing with dolls, I would get a cardboard box and make a desk for myself. I would gather any papers that my parents had laying around and play “office.”
