Exploring Life & Business with Nicole Smith of BridgeWell Consulting & Events, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Smith.

Hi Nicole, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always felt called to help people — to educate, to support, and to build something that makes a real difference. That calling has taken many shapes throughout my career, but it ultimately led me here: founding BridgeWell Consulting & Events.

BridgeWell was born out of both frustration and hope. After more than a decade working across the healthcare landscape — from pharmaceutical sales to physician relations and business development — I noticed the same pattern over and over again: private practices being asked to grow, to engage, to deliver better care… all without the operational or strategic support they truly needed.

I couldn’t shake the disconnect. These providers were doing important work in their communities, but they were stretched thin, overwhelmed, and often flying blind when it came to business strategy. I knew there had to be a better way.

So I took a leap and built what I couldn’t find elsewhere — a one-stop, trusted healthcare partner for independent practices. BridgeWell helps practices stay independent by offering hands-on support in strategy, operations, outreach, and referral development. It’s not just consulting for me — it’s collaboration. I get in the trenches with my clients, working side-by-side to create systems that actually work for them, their teams, and their patients.

It hasn’t always been easy. I left a stable corporate role to build something from scratch — and the growing pains are real. But every time I see a provider feel more confident, or a team finally aligned behind a growth plan that feels sustainable, I know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

BridgeWell is more than a business. It’s a reflection of everything I believe in — that community care matters, that private practices deserve support, and that smart growth starts with people.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but it’s one that taught me how to lead with intention, resilience, and purpose.
Before launching BridgeWell, I built a career in sales, physician relations, business development and completed my Healthcare Administration Masters program in only a year. On paper, I was rising. But behind the scenes, I was often caught in a cycle that many mid-career professionals — especially women and people of color — know all too well.
I was expected to drive results, but wasn’t given the support to make meaningful change. I brought fresh, forward-thinking ideas to the table — only to have them dismissed or delayed because they challenged the status quo. Time after time, I watched bold, strategic solutions get sidelined for fear of disrupting “how things had always been done.”
It was frustrating and disheartening, but I kept showing up. I stayed committed, built strong relationships, and led initiatives that made a measurable difference — not because I had to, but because I believed in what healthcare could look like if we stopped letting fear block progress.
Eventually, that frustration became clarity. I realized I didn’t need to wait for permission to lead differently — and that’s how BridgeWell was born. It’s everything I needed but couldn’t always access: strategic, hands-on support for practices that want to grow with intention. Now, I help practices avoid the same bottlenecks and blind spots I spent years navigating. I’ve learned that real growth doesn’t come from playing it safe. It comes from doing the work, staying close to the people, and building something that actually works.

We’ve been impressed with BridgeWell Consulting & Events, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
BridgeWell offers fractional, full-scope support for healthcare practices at any stage — from launch to scale. Our services cover everything from outreach, brand strategy, and patient pipeline development to credentialing and operational planning. Think of us as a connector — pulling together the right people, strategies, and solutions to help a practice thrive.

What makes BridgeWell different is our approach. We’re not just consultants — we’re collaborators. I don’t hand over a plan and walk away. I dig in. I build relationships, solve problems in real time, and adapt alongside the practice. It’s thoughtful, it’s personal, and it’s built to last.

At its core, BridgeWell is about partnership. We help healthcare providers move forward with confidence — and we make sure they don’t have to do it alone.

I launched BridgeWell after seeing far too many practices navigating transitions without the support systems to back it up. Whether they were navigating expansion, struggling with patient volume, or trying to build visibility in a competitive market, the challenge was the same: they needed more than ideas — they needed real help. That’s where we come in.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I may still be early in my entrepreneurial journey, but there are a few things I’ve already learned that I hope others hold close.
First — believe in yourself, even when others don’t know how to see you yet. If I had let my first “no” stop me, I’d still be sitting in my elementary school library, barred from checking out the books I knew I could read, just because someone else didn’t believe I was ready. That moment stayed with me. It taught me early on that no one can define your capacity but you.
Second — find your “why” and make it your anchor. So much of starting something new feels uncertain, but your mission will keep you grounded. For me, that mission is clear: making the business of healthcare feel less overwhelming and more human for the people doing the work. I built BridgeWell around that “why,” and it shows up in everything I do.
Finally — start before you feel 100% ready. You can build clarity as you go. You don’t need to have it all figured out to begin — just the courage to move in the direction of what lights you up.
