Today we’d like to introduce you to Phillip Wilson.
Phillip, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
From hauling gas as a fuel tanker owner-operator to becoming a trusted notary and entrepreneur—my journey hasn’t been ordinary. I vowed to never work for someone else again. I knew deep down I was meant for more than my trucking career. After walking away, I turned to flipping art and antiques into a side hustle. While I had some success, sales weren’t moving fast enough. That’s when I chose to pursue something completely new—becoming a notary. At first, it was simply a challenge to prove I could succeed in a different path, but it’s grown into much more.
My journey hasn’t been easy. I went from being homeless and losing everything, to almost losing my life a few years ago. After coming out of a coma, I thought people would help me get back on my feet with more work, but instead I had to figure it out myself. That challenge birthed my passion for marketing, SEO, and unconventional creative strategies. I discovered the power of reviews, video testimonials, and the simple truth that success comes from just being myself—treating people with kindness and respect.
Today, I’m proud to be recognized as one of the most successful and knowledgeable mobile notaries in Colorado. I’ve expanded my business into the only mobile shipping store in the state for both domestic and international services. Beyond serving clients, I train and mentor other notaries and small business owners, teaching them marketing, SEO, and how to leverage Google Business Profiles to grow their businesses. I’m also building a social business directory to give back to small businesses in my community.
And then there’s the story behind my chocolate-covered strawberry logo. I wanted something that stood out in the notary and shipping industry, something that represented generosity. I’ve always made more chocolate-covered strawberries than people could eat, so they were “forced” to share. One day, a client who had been ghosted by another notary remembered me—not by name, but as “the chocolate-covered strawberry guy.” That nickname stuck, and soon I was making strawberries for anyone and everyone. It became a symbol of my brand: unforgettable, personal, and built on sharing.
From setbacks to comebacks, my journey proves that with resilience, creativity, and a heart for people, you can turn struggles into something meaningful.
I believe every day is an opportunity to grow, to learn, and to become a better human—someone who can help move society in a positive direction.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road—far from it. My journey has been marked by setbacks, struggles, and challenges that tested me in every way.
In 2015, I was in a motorcycle accident that left me with a traumatic brain injury and other issues, creating physical and mental hurdles I never expected to face. By 2019, I knew I wanted to walk away from my trucking career, a decision I ultimately made in 2020. That same year of 2019, I faced one of the deepest personal losses of my life—my service dog and best friend, Petey, passed away. He had been my anchor through so many dark seasons, and losing him forced me to grieve while still trying to find a way forward.
Then, in 2021, I fell into a coma due to some serious health issues and nearly lost my life again. Coming out of that experience was another turning point, reminding me that every day is borrowed time. Recovery wasn’t just about physical healing—it was about rebuilding my confidence, my business, and my sense of purpose from the ground up.
On top of financial and business struggles, I’ve also wrestled with mental health challenges that at times felt heavier than any external obstacle. To confront them, I turned to practices that pushed me far outside my comfort zone—cold immersion therapy, ice baths, and even hiking in the Colorado mountains in nothing but shorts during winter at high altitudes. These experiences taught me how to face fear head-on and tap into strength I never knew I had.
All of this not only shaped who I am, but also inspired a future mission: to help other men face their own mental health struggles and fears. I believe that by sharing these tools and experiences, I can help create a path toward resilience, healing, and purpose for others—while reminding them that they are not alone.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Freedom Mobile Notary & Colorado Apostille Services LLC – Denver’s Mobile Shipping International & Domestic Services isn’t just another notary company—we’re one of the most trusted and recognized mobile notary and shipping providers in the state, with over 800 reviews across all platforms, including video testimonials from real clients who share their experiences.
We specialize in mobile notary services, apostille facilitation, notary training and something truly unique: Denver’s only mobile shipping store. Think FedEx, DHL, or UPS—but with a personal touch. You pack, and I come to you for pickup, making both domestic and international shipping more convenient than ever. We also provide discounts on select shipments, giving clients more value with every delivery.
My vehicle is my office. I’m fully mobile and equipped with a full-size printer, a 400-lb capacity scale to weigh heavier packages, and the ability to create and print labels and documents on the spot. This allows me to provide clients with a complete, professional experience without them ever needing to leave home or the office.
While I personally handle about 99% of the work myself, I also collaborate with a trusted network of notary colleagues across the country. This allows me to outsource specialized tasks when needed, ensuring that clients always receive the same level of professionalism and reliability no matter where they are.
What sets us apart is more than the services—it’s the brand behind them. I’m proud to be an animal-friendly notary and shipping provider, because I believe pets are part of the family and deserve the same welcoming, stress-free environment as our clients. Beyond that, I’ve built my business on kindness, reliability, and creativity. From leveraging reviews and SEO to my “Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Guy” identity, I’ve shown that standing out in an industry is about authenticity and making people feel valued.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built—over 800 reviews in total. Many are in video form, including one from U.S. Olympian Mike Friedman, while a few VIPs have also chosen to leave written reviews—prove that clients not only use our services, they believe in us enough to share their stories publicly. That’s the power of delivering consistent, exceptional service and building genuine relationships.
What I want readers to know is simple: my brand is built on professionalism with heart. Whether you need a notary at your door, an apostille handled with precision, a mobile shipping solution that saves you the trip, or even a potential business collaboration, Freedom Mobile Notary & Colorado Apostille Services LLC – Denver’s Mobile Shipping International & Domestic Services is here to make the experience smooth, reliable, and memorable.
How do you define success?
For me, success isn’t just measured by money or recognition—it’s about impact, growth, and authenticity. I define success as the ability to take the struggles and setbacks I’ve faced and turn them into something that helps others. Every time I can make someone’s life easier—whether it’s through notarizing an important document, simplifying a stressful apostille process, or picking up a package so they don’t have to leave their home—that’s success.
Success also means staying true to who I am. I’ve built my brand on kindness, creativity, and consistency. The fact that people remember me as “the chocolate-covered strawberry guy” or leave heartfelt reviews means I’m doing more than providing a service—I’m creating a lasting connection.
Most importantly, success is about legacy. It’s about using what I’ve learned—from marketing and SEO to mental health resilience—to empower others, whether that’s mentoring new notaries as a notary trainer, supporting other small businesses, or helping men and other people face their own struggles. To me, true success is leaving people better than I found them, and knowing I’ve built something meaningful that outlives the obstacles I’ve overcome.
