Exploring Life & Business with Rosa Miranda of Treat Society

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosa Miranda.

Hi Rosa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been passionate about dogs. And when I adopted my dog Lola back in 2017, the love and care I had for them grew even stronger. I wanted to give Lola a long and happy life – and food played a big role in making sure Lola would grow up to be a healthy dog. When I started researching what ingredients benefited dogs, and what were harmful, I noticed that a lot of dog treats were filled with additives, artificial ingredients, and synthetic preservatives.

It scared me to learn that dog owners were feeding their pups treats that were more damaging to them than good. I also noticed she began having stomach issues every time I would feed her store-bought treats. Lola would get very sick. So I decided I would start making treats for her. Treats that were made with only purposeful, natural, and simple ingredients that would not only taste good but be good for her.

This led me to think about other dog owners and wonder if they had the same issues I did with Lola. Turns out, just like my dog, it was a common problem. Many pups had sensitive tummies and would get sick from eating store-bought treats and their owners were trying to find treats that didn’t cause any issues and also would benefit their health. And that’s how Treat Society was born.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our journey hasn’t always been easy, but it has been nothing but rewarding. We opened in 2020, amid the pandemic. To this day, I continue making all our treats by hand, with small batches in our kitchen at home. There were many weeks, especially during farmers market season where I would stay up making treats until 2 am while trying to balance having a full-time job and being a new mom.

Developing recipes, testing them out, and wearing multiple hats in the company has had its challenges. But, our community has trusted us with our product and we would do anything to provide them with nothing but the best quality treats, service, and care possible.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Treat Society started because of our passion and care for dogs. Our mission is to make dog treats that are made with ingredients that serve a purpose. All our flavors are made with only 5 all-natural ingredients, with no preservatives or additives. We thrive on providing dog owners with peace of mind when it comes to feeding their dogs.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Perseverance. It’s been quite a challenging journey, in the best way possible. But it takes a lot of effort, sacrifice, and determination to not give up on your dreams. I truly care about our mission, which has helped me get to where we are today.
