Today we’d like to introduce you to Seher Vatansever
Hi Seher, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My desire to specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy started with a deep calling to help women feel safe, seen, and empowered. As I began this work, I realized that helping others access their healing journey was also part of my own healing journey.
I grew up in a small, conservative town in Turkey, where I was taught not to express my sexuality, talk about my period, or explore pleasure. I saw my pelvic floor as something “dirty,” and I unknowingly carried that shame in my body as tension. When I discovered pelvic health, I realized so many of us hold onto shame, stress, or trauma in our pelvic floor, which manifests as pain or dysfunction. Early into my career, I realized that pelvic health is underserved in our health care system and I wanted to change that.
After earning my doctorate in general physical therapy, I pursued advanced certifications in pelvic floor therapy, dry needling, and yoga to create a more holistic approach to healing. After working in different settings, I founded Embodied Healing PT, a small, woman-owned private practice in Lakewood, serving people in the Denver area. My mission is to provide trauma-informed, affirming care that helps people reconnect with their bodies and heal in a way that feels safe and empowering.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting my own practice was not a smooth road AT FIRST. Leaving the stability of a 9-to-5 job to build something entirely on my own required a huge mental shift. I had to truly believe in myself and my vision, which meant overcoming a lot of self-doubt and imposter syndrome.
That being said, the foundation I had already built made the transition much smoother than I expected. I had spent years building community in Denver, sharing pelvic floor knowledge on Instagram (@seher.dpt), and teaching yoga. I was also making sure to stay connected with all of my previous clients and have developed long-lasting bonds with a lot of them. When I finally took the leap, things started falling into place in a way that felt aligned.
The hardest part was making the decision and trusting myself. Once I did, I realized I wasn’t starting from scratch—I was stepping into something I had been creating all along!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Embodied Healing PT?
I’m the founder of Embodied Healing PT, a small, woman-owned pelvic floor physical therapy practice in Lakewood, Colorado. My mission is to provide trauma-informed, affirming care that helps people feel safe, seen, and empowered in their bodies.
I specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy, treating conditions like pelvic pain, painful intercourse, postpartum recovery, bowel and bladder dysfunction, and more. I work with all genders to allow them to access freedom and empowerment in their pelvis. I integrate manual therapy, movement, breath work, yoga, and nervous system regulation to address both the physical and emotional aspects of healing. I believe pelvic health isn’t just about symptoms; it’s about reclaiming connection to your body.
One thing I’m most proud of brand-wise is the sense of safety and empowerment I create for my clients. Pelvic health can feel vulnerable, and my goal is to make sure every person I work with feels heard, respected, and supported throughout their healing journey.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice for those just starting out is to focus on building community and showing up authentically. Business success isn’t just about marketing—it’s about connection. If you are truly aligned with your mission, people will feel that and be drawn to you.
Another key piece prior to starting your business is cultivating an abundance mindset! If you approach your goals from a place of fear, scarcity, or self-doubt, that energy will reflect in your work. Shifting into a mindset of trust and confidence can make all the difference– although easier said than done. Before opening my practice, I gave myself three months to mentally prepare. I used meditation, journaling, and intention-setting to get into the right headspace. I also found hypnosis videos on YouTube (focused on entrepreneurship and confidence) incredibly helpful in rewiring my mindset.
