Today we’d like to introduce you to Shay Koloff.
Hi Shay, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
In 2018, while living in Oklahoma, I found myself navigating a difficult season. As a mother of a two-year-old, I was managing my own health challenges, diabetes and high blood pressure. All while advocating for my daughter, who was born with bilateral clubbed feet and later diagnosed with ADHD. I knew something needed to change.
That change began in a community garden.
What started as two small raised beds of vegetables and herbs became a turning point. Gardening reconnected me to the land and to traditional, preventative approaches to wellness. It showed me that health is built daily; through food, environment, and intentional lifestyle shifts.
Soon after, we moved to Colorado to pursue better medical care and education. There, I formally began studying herbalism and working in permaculture gardening. What began as personal healing evolved into professional purpose.
Six years later, I’ve supported over 400 clients through herbal consultations, education, and botanical products. As an award-winning herbalist in the city, my mission remains rooted in empowerment and helping individuals reconnect with their health and wellness practices.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Along the way, I’ve had to close and reopen multiple times. I’ve experienced theft, legal challenges, and criticism from those who don’t understand or believe in holistic health work. I’ve also faced the difficult reality that not everyone values collaboration but that some would rather compete or take than build together.
Entrepreneurship, especially in the wellness space, comes with constant testing. There are financial pressures, community expectations, and the weight of standing firm in your purpose when others question it.
But what I’ve learned is this: businesses are built brick by brick, over time. They are strengthened through resilience, boundaries, and community; not sustained alone.
Every setback refined my structure, sharpened my leadership, and strengthened my commitment to ethical, education-based herbalism. The challenges didn’t stop the mission, they clarified it.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Enchanted Fox . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Enchanted Fox was created as more than a retail space. Come be hands on as it is a multicultural, spiritual hub for wellness rooted in community, education, and collaboration. We specialize in herbal education, ritual tools, artisan-crafted spiritual goods, and community-centered workshops. At its heart, the organization exists to support seekers, healers, and local makers in a space that prioritizes integrity, inclusivity, and empowerment.
What sets us apart is our diversity in the foundation of our lived experience and education. Our partnership formed organically when Lalania first connected with Shay through her herbalism cohort and enrolled in one of her classes. That relationship evolved into a shared vision for something larger than any one person. With the addition of Kelly, the founding team was born as a collective bringing together decades of experience in herbalism, energy work, artisan craftsmanship, and spiritual leadership.
Shay Koloff is an award-winning herbalist and wellness educator of Zenith Moon Co. LLC known for making herbal remedies accessible to modern audiences, having supported over 400 clients through consultations, workshops, and botanical products. Kelly Smith, founder of Twin Moon Magick LLC, brings over 30 years of experience as a practicing witch, Reiki Master, shamanic healer, energy worker, and ritual candle maker, with a nationally recognized line of handcrafted candles and oils. Lalania Simone is an Indigenous artist, spiritual jewelry designer, and tarot deck creator whose respected Denver metaphysical shop Alchemy Ritual Goods has established her as a trusted voice in artisan spiritual goods and culturally rooted retail.
What we are most proud of is creating a space that truly reflects our values: multicultural, LGBTQ-affirming, community-centered, and education-first. We prioritize artisan-made goods over mass production, meaningful workshops over quick transactions, and long-term impact over short-term trends. Our shelves support real makers. Our consultations focus on empowerment and prevention. Our classes are designed to make plant medicine and spiritual tools accessible without diluting their integrity.
What we want readers to know is that Enchanted Fox is more than a store, it is a sacred place. Whether someone comes in for herbal guidance, ritual tools, energy services, or simply curiosity, they are stepping into a space built with intention. We are here to help people reconnect to their health, their spiritual practices, their community, and roots. We are opening in March 2026, come visit us: 2636 Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80904
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about our city is its strong entrepreneurial spirit and appreciation for wellness, creativity, and small businesses. There’s a genuine sense of community here, which makes it an great place to make connection.
What I find most challenging is the rapid growth and rising costs with big corporations and living cost that can make it harder for small, mission-driven businesses to stay rooted. There can also be misunderstandings around holistic and spiritual work, but that simply creates more opportunity for education and connection.
