Today we’d like to introduce you to Sitanun Kohler.

Sitanun, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I moved to the United States in July 2015 from Thailand. Everything was new to me; the people, places, environment and culture. At first, my dream was to be an owner of a Thai restaurant. I spent my time working and learning about all of the positions in the Thai restaurant for over a year. Then I realized that the restaurant industry wasn’t what I wanted in life.

One day in October 2020, someone I knew taught me how to do a professional massage. After the first time I gave a massage, she told me that I maintained the pressure at the same level all over her body. This is vital for Massage therapists to be effective . That made me want to learn more about massage. If I want to be a massage therapist I need a license. I also needed to go to massage school first. So I decide to go to massage school on January 2021.

I earned a certificate from Denver Integrative Massage School in September 2021. After completing school, I registered for the MBLEx test. I failed the first time due to my English skills. I didn’t understand the wording about anatomy and kinesiology. I took time to practice my massage technique and then more time to learn and understand anatomy and kinesiology. Finally, I passed the MBLEx exam on my second retesting on March 2023 and became a LMT.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I decided to open my own business. Everything was new to me and I needed to make smart use of the money I invested into the business. There were many challenges to overcome for me. I learned how to design and create a business website; all the treatments for massages and descriptions. I worked on the interior decoration and finishing details to make my business look and feel high quality. I contacted the many companies needed to sustain my business and built relationships with them to ensure lasting resources.

A Touch Of Thai Massage CO. was established in 2024 inNorthglenn, Colorado. At A Touch Of Thai, we specialize in Thai centric massage therapy with a variety of other therapeutic modalities. We are dedicated to providing a relaxing and rejuvenating experience for our clients. Our mission is to promote wellness and healing through the ancient art of Thai massage and other therapies.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
When I was young, my life was wonderful; no rush, no internet, no social media. As an eldest sister, I had to take care of my younger brother and sister. We lived with our grandpa in Bangkok, because my mom had to work in another province. My personality was playful and sociable. I really enjoy singing and participated in talent shows. I try to be a positive person and let my smile shine bright for my customers.
