Exploring Life & Business with Thomas Graham of White Rabbit Magic Camp

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thomas Graham.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A couple of years ago, I realized that my ideal job would be running a summer camp. I’ve always loved working with kids and helping them grow into the best versions of themselves. Their energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and I wanted to create something that would channel that excitement into meaningful development.

That’s when I launched White Rabbit Magic Camp—a program designed to teach kids essential life skills like confidence, respect, and communication through the fun and wonder of magic. We started with a summer camp, expanded into after-school programs during the school year, and just wrapped up our biggest summer camp yet. Now, we’re preparing to launch new after-school programs and community-based sessions at a local rec center this fall.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When we first started, our classes were small—just three or four students—but we stayed committed to the mission. Over time, word spread, and our most recent summer camp welcomed 24 kids. The growth has been gradual, but every step has been incredibly rewarding. The lessons we’ve learned and the impact we’ve had on the kids make it all worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about White Rabbit Magic Camp?
White Rabbit Magic Camp is more than just a place to learn magic tricks—it’s a space where kids grow in confidence, character, and creativity. We specialize in using the art of magic as a tool to teach kids to be “True Magicians,” who are respectful, prepared, enthusiastic, confident, humble, creative, authentic, and giving. Yes, kids learn magic, but that’s really just the carrot to get them excited about learning these 8 true traits. What sets us apart is that everything we do is built around helping kids become the best version of themselves, not just better magicians.

Our programs are fun, high-energy, and filled with surprises—but they’re also intentionally designed to help kids build real-world skills that will stick with them long after the final performance. Not every kid is going to become a magician–in fact, most of them won’t. But all of these kids will someday need to get a job, go on a date, or apply for college. Ideally our program is preparing them for those milestones in the future.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the way families trust us—not just to entertain their kids, but to help shape who they’re becoming. When a parent tells me their child came home more confident or more respectful after camp, that’s everything to us.

Whether it’s through a week-long summer experience or a weekly after-school class, our goal is the same: to make learning life skills feel like magic. We provide extraordinary fun that makes great kids appear.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Starting a business is never easy—and starting one from the ground up, especially in a niche like teaching life skills through magic, definitely felt like a risk. It meant putting in long hours, stepping into the unknown, and often working late nights, which pulled me away from home more than I would’ve liked at times.

What kept me going was the belief in the impact we could make. And ironically, while the business demanded a lot of time, it’s also given me more meaningful time with my own kids. They’ve been part of the journey—testing tricks with me, coming to camps and classes, and watching the whole thing grow. That’s been one of the most rewarding parts of all of this, and I hope they can see that they can do hard things too.

I don’t consider myself a natural risk-taker in the traditional sense, but I do believe in taking intentional, purpose-driven risks—especially when the potential reward is helping kids grow into their best selves. To me, that’s worth it every time.
