Exploring Life & Business with Tiffany Corrales of Spellbound Wick Works & Apothecary

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Corrales

Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
After a hard breakup I decided to take a candle making class with a friend. After the class, candle making became a hobby that helped me re-center myself. In doing so, I was posting my creations to my personal instagram and it caught the eye of one of my longtime friends. She asked if I would like to come and sit with her at an event she was doing locally and sell my candles. I ended up taking my little batch of candles, some of my handmade body butter, tallow balm and some simmer pot bags and that is how Spellbound Wick Works & Apothecary was born. Since then I have taken cosmetic formulary classes and worked to expand our offerings to include hand dipped incense, perfume oils/balms, beard oils, solid shampoo and conditioners, among other items. I also have taken on a partner who not only brings her own unique bath items to the table but has made it possible to do the local pop up events. It’s crazy to think that I have been able to achieve all of this in a year.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was a slow start in the beginning. Trying to find an audience for what you do takes time and effort and being new to the vendor/pop up scene in Denver it took a little time to find my way in and make connections as well as figure out where we belonged in this community.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Spellbound Wick Works & Apothecary?
We are a small coven of two who specialize in small batch hand-poured soy candles, small batch natural skincare and small witchy essentials. We are known for how well our candles are scented as well as having anything but ordinary scent profiles. I think what sets us apart from other brands is that we are not making large batches and we take our time with every single item that we make and really put all of our heart into them. I don’t know if I would call it an item I am proud of, however, a candle that we have is called Graveyard Dirt and it smells like actual dirt. I love watching when people pick it up to smell it and the moment of realization of what the scent is hits them. A lot of the time they end up purchasing it. I would like your readers to know that we are not just a brand but that we are also community builders. We value every connection we make. Your readers can find us at local pop up events almost monthly, sometimes several markets a month during the summer/fall. The best place to find out where we will be right now is our instagram. We also have a website were our items can be puchased and we offer free local delivery in the Denver Metro area. Our website is spellboundwickworks.square.site.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The importance of community. We have been extremely lucky to either know or have met some of the most amazing people this year. The vendor community for the most part has been extremely welcoming and it’s refreshing when you have a group of people with a common goal working to make an event memorable for all those involved and continue to support each other well after the event has passed.
