Today we’d like to introduce you to Tim Barstad.
Hi Tim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for architecture started with a high school drafting class, which gave me the skill set I needed to land my first drafting job. From then on, I just knew this would be what I did with my life. Now I’m a licensed architect in the state of Colorado, designing homes all along the Front Range.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I graduated in 2010 in the full force of the recession. Architects basically didn’t have jobs back then. I thought, “Well, that’s four years down the drain. Time to pick a new career.” But I was wrong – in the spring of 2011, I connected with TKP Architects, and I’m proud to say I’ve been a part of the team ever since.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
TKP Architects is a team of architects, designers, and engineers who are excited about serving our clients with high-end designs tailored to their personalities and lifestyles. We pride ourselves on expertise and a highly personalized approach to each of our homes. We’re hardworking, fun-loving people that love what we do, and we have a great time doing it!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I see an abundance of good luck in my own journey and in the life of our firm. But what stands out to me even more than good fortune is the generosity of good people along the way. The teachers who shaped me, the family who supported me, the architects who took the chance and hired me, and the homeowners who continually entrust us with the dreams for their new homes; their trust and self-gift have guided me.
