Good morning George, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me right now is waking up and getting ready for the day by preparing myself mentally for what it will bring. Then I get my fishing gear and clothing picked out. If I am teaching ice fishing, fishing from a boat, fishing from shore, or fly fishing that will be the main factor that determines the flow of the day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am the owner and manager of Silver Flask Fishing in the Rocky Mountains on Lake Dillon specializing in fully guided fly fishing, pontoon fishing, shore fishing, and ice fishing excursions. What makes Silver Flask Fishing stand out is the attention to detail we take with each client to help them learn how to fish. We specialize in creating an atmosphere that is very inviting to the beginner or novice looking to learn fishing. Species targeted are arctic char, brown trout, kokanee salmon, cutbow trout, and rainbow trout. A rare sight in the lower 48 states the arctic char can be caught in Lake Dillon, making it a once in a lifetime bucket list catch! Silver Flask Fishing was created to share my love with the world one cast at a time. Each day brings it rewards and challenges, but I always take the time to remember the love I have for fishing and that I get to share it with the world. Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I would have to say my mother taught me the most about work. She lead by example taking on 80 hour work weeks while doing the shopping simultaneously. I learned that work can take on many different forms paid or unpaid. Watching my mothers work ethic helped shape my work ethic to what it is today.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You are going to live your dream so keep on fishing with all your heart.
