Hidden Gems: Meet Alec Domjan of The Training Room

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alec Domjan.

Hi Alec, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Alec Domjan and I’m the owner and clinic director of The Training Room, where we specialize in treating mountain ready athletes. The mountains have always been more than a backdrop. They’ve been home for longer than I’ve even lived in Colorado. Every vacation growing up was in the mountains, rather that was Colorado, Alaska, California—it didn’t matter where, as long as there was hiking, skiing, or camping involved. That’s where I felt most at peace.

That childhood passion evolved into my mission. I am a sports rehab doctor with over five years of experience, to now help mountain athletes stay strong, avoid injury, and keep doing what they love—out on the trails and slopes.

Before launching my own clinic, I spent a decade immersed in the world of athletics and rehab. I’m a former Division I swimmer, and learned firsthand the toll high-level performance can take on the body. After earning my Bachelor of Science from Valparaiso University, he pursued a Doctorate from Logan College of Chiropractic to dive deep into biomechanics and movement science.

I don’t just want to treat injuries—he wanted to prevent them. I saw too many athletes sidelined by issues that could’ve been avoided with better movement education and support while a college athlete and wanted to build something more proactive, not reactive.”

And so, The Training Room was born.

Located in Denver’s Lower Highlands, the clinic blends cutting-edge rehab strategies with mountain-specific strength and mobility training. Whether it’s a skier recovering from an ACL tear or a trail runner fighting off chronic ankle sprains, every athlete gets a personalized plan to return stronger than they left.

When I’m not in the clinic or helping patients through custom online programming, you’ll likely find me hiking with my girlfriend and our two huskies or carving down fresh powder on my snowboard.

I live the same life my patients do. I get why it matters to summit a 14er without pain, or to hike a few extra miles just because the view’s better. That connection helps me design care that’s realistic, motivating, and effective.

That personal passion also fuels my educational efforts. From seminars on injury prevention to online programs for remote mountain athletes, I’m working to create a new standard in mountain athlete care—one that’s proactive, precise, and built around real life in rugged terrain.

The Training Room is more than just a clinic to me right now—it’s a whole movement rooted in childhood memories of alpine adventures, grown through years of clinical experience, and driven by a mission to help mountain athletes thrive.

The mountains gave me so much growing up and now, I get to give back—one athlete at a time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting any small business isn’t easy but you meet the right people and keep working and good things always happen. Just takes time and work.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The people. I want to work with the right people who have a passion for the mountains.
