Hidden Gems: Meet Andreu Sureda-Guixa of KIlwins Chocolates & Ice Cream

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andreu Sureda-Guixa.

Hi Andreu, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Having been avid travelers in our previous lives and surely passionate about good things in life, both my wife and I fell in love with Denver, CO, while we were still living in the Tampa Bay area, in Florida. We came for a vacation week, and pretty much went back, only to “pick up the dogs…”.

We moved in and shortly found an awesome opportunity to drop our corporate positions and develop three of our biggest passions: Chocolate, Ice Cream, and People; and bring our amazing chocolates and ice cream to Denver, CO!

A few months later, Kilwins at 16th Street Mall opened its doors, on August 18th, 2020!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In short, having opened our doors on Aug. 2020, at the Mall… our journey has been anything but boring!

Covid severely affected traffic and live downtown Denver, CO, and with it, our business. The city didn’t force us to shut down during the pandemic, as we do not have indoor seating so, at one point, we were pretty much the only ones opened at night… Customers would come in and thank you for “keeping the mall alive!”

During the last year, homelessness and other challenges at the mall have tested our stamina and willingness to survive. But luckily, our products speak for themselves, and no, we are not going anyway, but UP!

We offer one of the best confectionary chocolates and ice cream in town.

Our “most proud of” moments: when seeing customers’ faces uplift upon walking into our store. 99% of the time, they say “Oh my God… it smells so good…!!”

This is why we are in business. To bring happiness, joy, and smiles to your life!
