Today we’d like to introduce you to Andy Sweet.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
The Grand Valley is in a terrible state of mental health. Our psychology is such that leads to homelessness and suicide. We lack coping skills, and that leads to substance abuse. The boom and bust cycles have caused us trauma. Furthermore, we are all getting poisoned by the food that we eat. Corporate agriculture has patented seeds that allow them to sue farmers for everything they got when the seeds blow across the road.
Our foods in stores and restaurants are full of preservatives, soy, corn, refined sugars, and enriched flours that cause inflammation in our bodies, and seriously offset gut flora. The average age of an apple is 10 months because they get picked early and then sprayed to chemically ripen it. No wonder the people are so miserable!
The solution is quite simple. For a political change to occur, first must be a cultural change. I have done work in mental health and I have deduced it into 3 steps. 1) We need to get out of our heads 2) Gut Health 3) Get the unaddressed trauma addressed.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles along the way are that the narrative always changes to distract us, and that is done mostly with the all-mighty dollar.
We’ve been impressed with Andy’s Barbershop, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The vision for which this business was formed was to be a conducive environment for conversations to take place.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Find someone that knows more than you, and constantly ask them questions.
